Hi Moms!
I was wondering if anyone has tried or participated in IM therapy?
It is interactive metronome (IM) to assist with concentration and attention.
Thank you

Luckymom2- Thanks for sharing this treatment with the group. I am curious if you are considering paying privately with a special clinic or are you working in the school system with an OT or Specialist?
I do have experience with it, but not with children with ADHD.
Thanks
That’s so interesting. IM therapy is marketed as a treatment option for ADHD. What have you used it for?
If I were to take an educated guess increasing focus and decreasing impulsivity. They would ask them to do things like stand on a board that makes them unstable ( flat board with 1/2 a Ball on the bottom and they need to stay standing whilewobbly, then they introduce a focus task.
Just a guess..
I did it with a student for 6-8months and the Specialist saw no difference (this is a student with spacial relationship issues)
I was very interested in it and actually went to their training and got certified as a provider but didn’t have the resources to pay for the equipment. My husband has adhd and also went to the training with me. He was great at it, me not so much. I wanted to try it on my daughter but have never gotten a chance to. I’m curious to see if anyone else has seen success with it on their child with adhd.
We have a now almost 18yr old girl with ADHD which we have struggled with for 12yrs. My wife is an SLP in an elementary school in Harford County MD. She actually purchased an IM machine probably 8 yrs ago. After using it for some time, we didnt perceive any improvement with focus, attention, etc. Our daughter is also ODD which has made treatments very difficult. We've tried and failed with multiple attempts at medication and lived thru her brief bout with an eating disorder 2 years ago. So far only counceling has helped. Our daughter is beautiful and so very smart, but has the attention and judgement of a nat ! She is gifted with music and as a sprinter and has found success with track for the last 2 years and it may take her into adulthood. Find what your ADHD child loves and do your best to support him/her with those rewarding interests
