Lack of sleep please help
CPhillips123- I am sorry things are so hard for you right now ( big hug) I am not sure the age of your child. But I would recommend they get lots of excercise before bed time and do not allow them to nap during the day.
Put them on a regular sleep schedule, please let me know if you need a book recommendation.
You could also talk to your sons doctor about some over the counter medication ( meletonin ) for sleep to see if this could help, but it is also important for him to naturally fall asleep on his own.
As far as medication is concerned, if you can not afford them, please contact the drug company that makes the medication your child takes, most companies have programs to help families that are not able to afford medications, as long as you have a current RX by a doctor and you qualify they can assist you.
Hope these suggestions help. Please also remember children change and let's hope this is just a phase he is going through. Please take care of yourself.
Take care!
200 to 300 mg magnesium glycinate was recommended to me by psychiatrist. I also recommend a weighted blanket which calms my son.
Both of my grandson's take melatonin at bedtime. It comes in a chewable form like vitamins. Valerian help some too
Can he binge on Netflix while you sleep on the couch? Short term solution. Or audiobooks? Like just for a couple nights until insurance pulls their head out... would that help at all? Maybe you could get a few hours at least. I can’t stand insurance companies.
My son takes melatonin each night. Checked w his pediatrician and he said it was ok.
Melatonin yes! Do it our son 9.5 is on 10mg both neurologist and primary said this is a fine dose to give and he is only 70lbs. The amounts on the internet are not accurate sites just post that bc there isnt much known about melatonin and children. Ask the docs and start it it helps.
Have your doctor write to the insurance as to why it is needed fight the denial. Sometimes they require a failed attempt of 4 meds before they will pay for that 1 they are denying. They did this to us with Vyvanse. But once he wrote the letter they approved it same day!
