Hello, my 17 y/o son is on an emotional roller coaster. He is struggling with what to do with all his mental energy and it’s overwhelming him. Few things I suggest, he will try but mostly I get “That’s too boring for me Mom”. He wants to find things that are fulfilling & will add happiness to his life. Anyone with ADHD or parents with suggestions of things to do that fill your day and keep your mind engaged? I know part of this is because he refused to take his medicine and has been off of it for 2 years now. Only recently have the symptoms became hard to manage for him. I know teen years are filled with hormone changes, worries of what to do after high school, work, etc. He restarted his medicine yesterday. It breaks my heart to hear him so overwhelmed and frustrated-not knowing what to do with himself as his mind races with energy. Any insight/ideas are appreciated. TIA

I'm no expert I have a son with ADHD he's 9 but my 12 year old has apergers and he is not on any meds but everything changed when he started playing the violin and he's picked it up really fast maybe you can check into music lessons or if he's still in school he can join the band or orchestra I know ever since my son started playing he's a completely different person

I heard about music as well, my son plays in the band, also I heard about karate .

Karate and Taekwondo are certainly good sports for those with ADHD. He's old enough to volunteer. Also those were into Electronics would do well in a club that teaches programming

Hi, I have a 15yrs son and he just finished a summer camp for creative writing for teens and he loved it. also, he likes to do kinesthetics at the park or at home every other day, right now he is just enjoying lazy time drawing comics and reading books. We know he sill start school and stress daily soon so we must be prepared him mentally for that. Ask him what does he likes more, go out of the house and find some teens group classes to try something different.
