Has anyone tried taking their kid to brain Balance or heard of anyone that has and it helped them?
Brain Balance? : Has anyone tried... - CHADD's ADHD Pare...
Brain Balance?
Is this the same as neurofeed back?
It’s an after school learning central that is supposed to help your child with academics and their behavior issues without them needing medication.
The program is tailored to your child specifically on what they need help with. I just wonder if it works or not or if it’s a big waste of money.
what neurofeed back? I have done Brain mapping for him which has helped him on depth.
Neurofeed back is where they attach transmitters to your child's head in specific areas to read your child's emotions etc. And they use this to help teach the brain to focus and calm down. You can Google it. It helps my son calm down, after his sessions he is calmer not so hyped up.
I have been to an intake meeting for brain balance. It’s a program that focuses on nutrition and physical therapy. They required my child to be on a very strict diet. They cut out all sugar /pop and simple carbohydrates. They also do a custom physical fitness plan through special therapy that helps the left brain and right brain work together. I went to the library and rented the brain balance book. I loved their theory so much I did it from home as much as possible. If you stay on the strict diet it really works . My son would not stay on the diet. He is 13 and on his way to and from school he would stop at 7-11 for chips and pop. If you can afford the program I would use it but if you can’t stick to the diet they will not Garuntee results for your child.
My friend did this with her son who has dyslexia and a little ADHD. They did it years ago. it was very intensive, expensive and from what I remember hours of "practice" a day. He is doing well overall and I don't really see signs of ADHD like in my son or other friends of his.
Two friends that took their sons deemed it a waste of time and money. Both felt it worked a bit very, very short-term; no lasting impact. My son’s professional providers provided the same feedback ling before my friends gave it a go.
I've never done it, but I have a friend who did do the program years ago with one of her sons and she loved it.
It is like 200$ per hour and seems like a lot and doesn’t take insurance but have payment plans. I guess if your child can’t get help it would help. I feel it’s better deal to hire a tutor. I don’t personally have experience with it but just my opinion.
I’ve called and talked to them at brain Balance and asked about pricing and they wouldn’t give me an answer lol! Said it’s different for everyone depending on what your child needs help with. Well at this point my son is fine academically and mainly needs help with his behavior mostly. That’s a lot of money to spend!
If u got an IEP at school that should be fine. It has all the specialist u need.
What is an IEP? Do they work with the child’s behavior?
Individualized Education Program... my son has one, it took me almost 3 years to get it, but it has helped us IMMENSELY. He is afforded more time for tests, a quiet space to take them, help with some of the reading and writing... it's specific to the child. I live in FL, and my son is in a really good school, he was starting to become a discipline problem, but also had issues with reading and writing. We had to take him to a child psychologist and get feed back from his pediatrician and teachers to obtain the IEP, but he's doing really well now. You should check into it, it can't hurt!
I think that depends on the child. My twins both have had IEP’s since 2015 (4 years) and it has worked well for my daughter, but not at all for my son. She doesn’t have any conditions, like ADHD or autism, but my son is currently being tested and I truly believe he is struggling with something similar or both. I wish I would have gone against the whole “he’s too early to worry or test” suggestions... try anything at any point! It’s all worth it.

Hi! I am new here, wanting to learn about ADHD. My son is 7, diagnosis with severe ADHD so we wanted to go the holistic way, no drugs. He has a lot of problem with focusing, hyper activity due to foods/ sugar of course. We did go to brain balance, and pd $200 for an assessment. The consult was very thorough and I felt like I was speaking to someone who knew what I was going thru and dealing with a child with ADHD. The program for him was 8 months costing $15k! Not accepting ins, payment upfront, coming 3x a week from January to August, and they would advocate for him. There was no guarantee his ADHD would be controlled but he would have coping skills and his brain would be stronger and exercised with their intervention/ therapies. This program would build a foundation on top of another to help him. I am hopeful. Right now I am in the process of educating myself and looking for more options to help him.
If anybody has gone thru BB I would like to know the results too. Thanks!
