What’s Brain Balance?

We have never done Brain Balance but from many reviews and stories I have read it is not worth the expenses. Many of the “experts” are under qualified and underpaid.

Hi. When I read your question I hesitated to reply. I believe that each child with these special abilities are all unique. We did try Brain Balance - at the cost of about $8,000 for 5 months of their services. We too tried EVERYTHING but meds for about a year. Brain Balance was not effective for my then 5 year old. The very little slight progress we experienced was wiped away with the next growth spurt. What Brain Balance did for me was to help me feel like I had honestly tried EVERYTHING before trying medications. Their program is requires alot of work for the child and parent with very little to no progress made. We met great people and I like to live with no regrets, however, this was a very expensive service with no help for my daughter. I suggest you try anything and everything you feel guided to - even if you end up on meds, you will feel satisfied that you have followed your heart. Since Brain Balance I have become aware of the Masgutova Neurosensorymotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) method. MNRI addresses the non-conscious functions of the brainstem via repatterning of retained/pathological primitive reflexes. The MNRI helps with concentration and focus, sensory processing, fight/flight responses and anxiety as well as many other issues. This process has been proven to be more effective than strategies like Brain Balance. YOU MUST FOLLOW YOUR OWN HEART! Everyone;s journey is intended to be unique.

If/when you do try meds, please know that here is genetic testing that can be done (a mouth swab) to help identify the medication that would be most helpful. This test can help to cut down on the trial and error nightmares that so many experience. I with you and your family all the best! If I can be of further help with this topic, please call me at (336) 793-7987.

We were just tested at Brain Balance last week. As background, my 16 year old daughter has ADHD which she takes a low dose of medication for. Her biggest struggle is testing. We are in a very academically challenging environment. It seems she works and studies so hard and does not test well no matter what. I believe the test results we received on her are accurate. However, Brain Balance would like us to come 3 times a week for 7 months for a cost of $13,000. I about had a heart attack. It seems the staff have worked at Brain Balance a while but none have any formal training or education to support the astronomical price. Now I am at a loss of what to do. According to tests she has some right brain weakness. Now I am faced with having the information and not sure what to do with it. Guilt all over again

If you have insurance I would recommend taking her to a psychologist who can point you in the right direction of next steps. With insurance—psychologists/therapist can help much more than “brain balance” at a much less expense at least in the emotional side. Combined with the medication, perhaps looking into a private tutor would be worthwhile! My son is only 7 but we have him seeing a tutor over the summer so he doesn’t fall behind in school because I can tell it’s already hard for him. Good luck!
