Grandson
Hi! Mornings were a major battle for us as well. What I did that finally helped tremendously(!) was to put up a board with what he has to do (dressed all the way to shoes, brush teeth, backpack ready, eat, and take medicine (which I give him)). It took a while to get used to it but it works pretty well now. I didn't allow any play (tablet, computer, TV) until his list was done. He finally realized it was easier to get through the list so he could play. If it helps, have him pick out his clothes the night before. Having the list really helps because they cannot remember! My son just goes back to the list to see what he hasn't marked off.

We are also raising a grandson who has ADHD, and I am sure we have many of the same issues with him as you do with your grandson. Do you ever have any problems with him not wanting to take the medicine? That is our problem right now. He did not resist taking it at all last year. The suggestions that you were given were very good. Rewards and positive reinforcement are always best, but we do have to take away privileges sometimes. Our grandson was 9 on his last birthday at the end of the summer, and he is in 3rd grade. We just discovered an excellent YouTube channel called “HowTo ADHD” that you might find helpful. It was created by a young woman who has struggled with ADHD herself, and she shares a lot of information and talks about her own experiences as she has grown up with ADHD. She covers many topics and does a new video each week. Good luck!
