My Daughter 11year old ADHD

I have three girls. We also received guardianship of my niece a few months ago. My 11 year old has ADHD. Every since she was a infant we knew something was wrong. She was not diagnosed until she was in kindergarten. At first I did not want to put her on any medicine. But after a year we had too. She would become so frustrated she would hit, kick and scream. She was doing poor in school and did not have any friends. We had tried several different medications. We finally did find medicine that works for her. It definitely does not cure her and it still is a struggle everyday. And she also always apologizes for her behavior and she too sometime says she does not remember saying things and doing certain things. Her IQ is 120, she is very caring, sweet, and loves animals. She does fine when she is by herself. Also, she has to have a set schedule everyday. If the schedule changes she is out of control. We always send her to her room. We do not spank her anymore, because she does not care. She hates going to her room. My husband and I hated spanking her because it seemed like we were doing it all the time. She was very thin for her age because of her medicine. She was basically starving and I had to do something or take her off the medicine. And she would never really sleep at night. So we finally got a antidepressant that she takes at night to help her sleep through the night and increases her appetite. She has gain 12lbs in 2 months of taking it. Which is a blessing.
