Hi I had an MRI last Wednesday the secretary rang me today updating me that my record is with the consultant , and that he would either ring me or send me a letter... My question is how much does the secretary know ??? And is she abbliged to tell me.... This waiting game is making me sick , guess each and everyone of you knows the feeling... Plus how were you told ??? How long did it take.... I'm beyond desperate to know that I'm okay ... Or need to know that I'm not.... Just simply can't wait ... 😞

Ahhhh thankyou for your reply, it's just so frustrating, I can't think of anything else at the moment 😞 I know he's got it, but when will he look at it.... I will leave it a couple of days if I don't hear anything back... Not that I want to even hear if you know what I mean, best of luck for your results xxxx

It’s ghe Dictors job to speak to patients, she is not obliged to say anything as if you ask her questions she would not be le to answer. The Drs are probably having their discussion meeting so she may be able to tell you when that takes place. All the best

I know it's hard to, but try not to get too stressed about it. Although it's very scary as a patient - I was terrified! - it's very treatable and you're likely to be in highly specialised and top quality care.

I'm nearly a year after diagnosis now, and for me the timeline was quite fast. I was briefed by my GP a few days after the scan. She immediately referred the case to my local ENT, who then referred on to my regional specialist neurosurgery centre at Addenbrooke's. Even though I was diagnosed a few days before Christmas, I was seen by consultants within 3 weeks and in surgery within 2 months.

I forgot to say - if you haven't had a diagnosis then it might not be an AN/VS. My GP suspected Meniere's disease but the scan was ordered to discount an AN. In all her career - she has retired now - I'd been the first case of AN she'd seen and she had requested quite a few scans to discount it over her career. There seems to be quite a few conditions with overlapping symptoms.

I'll second Kristyll. Normally no one other than the doctor ordering the scan will talk to you, whether there's something there or not.

It's probably not as bad as you fear. Whatever the result, even if it is an AN.

Thankyou buzzygary, I'm not saying for one minute it is or isn't , I just want to know that I'm clear of everything... Hence my symptoms and the MRI .... There is concern due to what I'm complaining off, could be due to a number of things although the mri was to rule out... And of course I'm anxious as its not everyday that your brain is being looked at... The waiting game if it's something or not is horrendous 😞

I know that feeling - wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Hope you get some details soon.

Hi, please try not to worry. I felt exactly the same but found the consultant's secretary really helpful. I waited over two weeks and couldn't take anymore so rang the secretary and she said pretty much what you have been told but she did say that once the consultant had read the letter she was preparing I could call her back and she would read it to me. I rang her back a couple of days later and she did exactly that. The letter itself took another week to arrive.

Well my consultant rang me and explained that he can't see any nasties, but the radiographer has requested another MRI on my arteries 😳 so waiting upon a letter, will keep you updated xx
