I started getting tinnitus in my left ear about 7 months ago. I saw a GP, I had impacted earwax so a nurse removed it about a month later. The tinnitus didn't go away so I saw another GP who referred me to an ENT who sent to see an Audiologist for a hearing test and for an MRI that I got about a month ago. The hearing test went fine and the Audiologist said that my hearing is in a normal range. I received a letter in the mail today inviting me to see the ENT again on the 12th of June.
I'm a 24-year old male and I feel overall very healthy without any balance issues. I'm really worried that I have been invited back to see the EMT because it is something serious such as acoustic neuroma. I think the EMT said that if it isn't serious then he wouldn't invite me back.
Is it common practice for EMT's to see their patients about MRI's even if they are not serious? Other than Acoustic Neuroma is there any other reason that he might want to see me again?
Thankyou

Hi , I am fairly new to this myself and don't think it would be a good ideal to speculate, without really knowing much about tinnitus , I would think that there are people who suffer from it that do not have AN.
Looking on the positive side it's good that they have given you a quick appointment so you can find out what your next step will be. Waiting is not good for anyone , it can let the imagination conjure up all sorts of scenarios.
It is great that you have normal range hearing and are healthy with no balance issues .
An ENT doesn't make a living finding acoustic neuromas, he makes it doing surgery on the ear, nose and throat. When I went to an ENT for the AN issues, he also found that my nose was broken (it had been for 35 years) and that repairing it would help me to breath better. About 7 months after the AN surgery I the ENT fixed my nose; I breath much better now.
I am from the United Kingdom. The MRI I had was sent to the ENT along with the results of the hearing test that I had so perhaps he would be the one to find an AN? So, you think he may have found something else? I have been reading that otosclerosis is also common in young people with tinnitus maybe that is why he wants me back. My nose is actually also broken but I doubt an NHS worker would call me back for that.
I got a copy of my MRI including the radiology report on a CD prior to returning to my doctor. Can you access a portal to the imaging place or request a copy of results?
