I have been feeling lonely for a few years and realised this was a problem when I was in a hospital for 12 days. I decided to join new groups and was gaining some confidence until the coronavirus led to me seeing very few people in nearly a year and not having had a hug since my birthday last year.
I attend various on-line meetings, which usually work well as long as my internet connection is strong enough. It can be very frustrating trying to regain connection, which I don't usually experience when I am in a room with other people I know.
Hopefully, I shall be able to meet others again in the next few weeks.

I’m glad you reached out. Continue to share. Online support groups like this can help you to feel less lonely and not alone.
I was sad and scared in the first few weeks of lockdown but after I shared in one of the online groups, it helped me to be encouraged and realized I was not alone.
I also have a life group that I meet once a week through Zoom and it’s been a big help especially at this time of pandemic. I attend my local church in-person with social distance and that’s the only time I can see my friends in person.
I am glad that there are people like you who understand the problems of loneliness. I belong to a couple of on-line peer support groups, as well as a writing group.
I hope you will be able to attend church and see your other friends soon
please try and stay positive and I know its easier said than done but please keep your head high! Trust me , it will all get better and soon you'll be able to give the ones you love a big hug!
Thanks, mental_health_. I am trying to help others. I attended my monthly NHS Mental Health Group yesterday and there are plans to improve things in my borough
