Hi. It's been quite a while since I've been on here. 2013 was a very bad year for me and I'm hoping things can be better this year. They're off to a reasonable start. I've just started dating somebody, which is the first proper time in over 5 years. It seems to be going well and I want to be the best 'me' that I can be for her. This means that I'm doing everything I can to recover from my mental health problems. I'm seeing a psychiatrist and should be seeing a psychotherapist in the next couple of months. I wondered if a peer support group might also be helpful.
I'm generally not into sharing my problems, especially with strangers. I've been along to a fairly local peer support group once before and felt unable to talk because I tend not to be very vocal and other people were much more chatty than me.
I was wondering if anybody on here has been a part of peer support groups before and found them helpul?
