Have you seen a gynaecologist? I'm not an expert and don't suffer with it myself but I would want a proper diagnosis from an expert if I was in your position.

You need to see a gynaecologist and have a colposcopy. It can be many different things.

I'd let the specialists decide 🙏

Hello Amanda, Thank you for sharing your story. I agree with the others that you must see a specialist regarding your painful and heavy periods.

It certainly sounds like you may have endometriosis, I assume that you are suffering regularly in pain. This constant strain on your brain and body soon causes aches and pains in other parts of your body, mood changes, fatigue, memory problems and many symptoms. This can be called chronic pain syndrome and another similar type of pain syndrome being fibromyalgia. Which I see is another illness you think you may have.

It can be a very confusing time when you don't yet know what the cause is for your pain. However I would not concentrate on a definitive diagnosis at the moment. I believe your main priority should be to control your pain, quality of sleep, mental health support and a little gentle exercise on your good days if possible.

Many doctors don't know how to help people with complex pain, try going to see a doctor again and give them the explanation of needing strong pain relief for your periods. Preferably an anti inflammatory to help the muscular aches like Naproxen, you can then also take paracetamol and codeine for the pain at the same time. Be aware that codeine can cause constipation, which requires other medication to avoid another reason to make your stomach pain worse. (Please consult your doctor before taking any medication)

I hope that you find the medical and emotional support your clearly need and I wish you luck with all your medical appointments.

Best wish.. Helen
