Has anyone else had this? Doc diagnosed vaginal atrophy, and have been taking vagifem for three months, but still have background burning/sensitivity, which I never experienced before UTI. Re-test for infection negative. Would go to GP if essential, but not easy in current circs. Would be very grateful for any comments/suggestions.

Problems started after UTI. Successfully treated infection, but since then vaginal burning and urinary frequency, but no stinging.
In the current circumstances, maybe order some dipsticks online and test regularly yourself? Very cheap. We did and use to check mum's uti then correlated with GP test when it went. Her only symptoms were urinary urgency and frequency.
I have had exactly what you have, but found out I had thrush because of the burning, go back to dr. I had to have a 6 month course to clear it up. I also upped the dose of vagifem to every three days and not three then four days.
Atrophy can be incredibly difficult to manage, vagifem may not be the right product for you, there are many others to try and also try using a moisturiser like YesVM.
Thank you. Was really heartwarming to see replies this a.m. I have Sylk and Actigel, but neither is magic cure. Accept diagnosis of VA, but still puzzled that symptoms only started to bother me after UTI.. Maybe as you suggest VA is not straighforward in any respect.
Believe me I've struggled with this for years and I'm now seeing a specialist Gynae as nothing has worked for me, I'm now down for surgery to totally remove everything ! If it's gone it can no longer cause a problem ! I've tried all the prescription and non prescription meds but there is no magic bullet. Some work for a while but then stop working so it's on to the next one.
With moisturisers you need one with no additives which usually means the individual applicators rather than the tubes. I've found YesVM to be the only safe one that causes no reactions. Definitely steer clear of anything like canestan or actigel, they are to strong with to many irritant ingredients.
There are many different treatments so keep trying new ones and don't suffer in silence, ask for Gynae referral if needs be but only see one experienced in this debilitating condition, good luck.
