hi. This is my first post so please bear with me. I’m 53, 5ft 3 and 93kg and have just been put on the list for a gastric sleeve. I’m just within the nhs criteria for surgery but the consultant is keen to do it as I have complex health problems (heart failure, sleep apnoea, stroke, under active thyroid etc) which he feels will be really helped by surgery and extend my life.
Before surgery he sent me for an endoscopy, I had it today. They said I have a haitus hernia and damage to my stomach lining from acid (including a healed ulcer). The doctor doing the endoscopy was unsure if I could still have the gastric sleeve as I have acid reflux. I’m so disappointed as this was both mine, and the surgeons, preference. The surgeon said a gastric sleeve would be safer with my co-morbidities.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had a gastric sleeve with a hernia and gerd? id be really grateful for your views. Thanks.
