Hi my name is Susie. I'm 52 yrs old, married with great kids and grandkids. I live in Northamptonshire UK. I'm 6 stone + overweight and have fibromyalgia with osteoarthritis and insolin resistance. I've spent the last year under the care of a hospital dietitian proving that I need help to lose weight. I have my first appointment for stage 4 with the bariactric department at Luton and Bedford university hospital in Friday 13th May. I'm fairly clued up on what's involved and what to expect and the hospital has a good rep but I'm wondering if anyone here has personal experience with this hospital. I know I need the mal absorption aspect of the surgery but Luton offer the gastric bypass and the dudenal switch and I'm wondering if anyone on here can tell me long term how they have got on with either of these options. Thanks in advance.
Hello & info please.: Hi my name is... - Weight Loss Surge...
Hello & info please.
Hi, i had the weight loss surgery last October in the university hospital north staffs.
I met with the Bariatric surgeon in November 2014 and had the operation 8th October 2015. I had to have a lot of different appointments with dieticians, bariatric nurses, sleep clinic and found out I had moderate sleep apnea and needed a machine at night. I also saw an endinocrinologist to check my hormones and a pyscologist to check I was mentally fit for the operation.
I had it done on 8th October 2015 and have lost 7.5 stone and can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done, I still need to lose another 3 stone but it's wonderful losing the weight and knowing that you not going to put it back on, as I always did with the hundreds of times I had previously dieted and lost weight.
I hope this helps a little xxx
Hi, yes that helps, did you do anything with a dietitian before your hospital referal? I've already done a year with a hospital dietitian who also works with the bariactric department at the hospital I've been referee too. So I'm really hoping they won't need me to do another year with a dietitian. I think I'd lose the will to live lol
Hi, I had to see the dietician every four weeks and this was offered to me because the surgeon wanted me to lose a stone before the surgery. I did this and then two weeks before my op I had to go on a diet of just milk and yoghurt and I lost another stone in the two weeks, they request you do this to shrink your liver so it's out of the way before they operate. Anything else you want to ask me something please feel free to do so, take care 👍😀
Hi Susie, your always very welcome, you can honestly ask me anything at anytime, take care xxx
