How long was your gym sabbatical, Nitin9999, and what workouts were you doing prior to stopping?

I guess it largely depends upon level of lifting experience before your sabbatical.

If it's something you've done for a number of years, although the amount of weight lifted or pressed may need to reduce slightly, it shouldn't take you too long to rediscover old form.

However, if you were a relative novice, you may find that much of the muscular strength gained has been lost. As such, if you'd previously calculated 1 rep max for exercises, it may be worth returning to lifting 60-70% (of your 1 rep max) for a fortnight, helping to re-accustom the muscles once again.

Focus more on compound movements, such as squats, chest/shoulder presses and lat pulldowns, for example.

Hi Nitin9999 --I'm new here and so I couldn't answer this 25 days ago when you first posted. So sorry for delayed reply. First I hope you started working out again! And the answer is simple:

How do you start? Get your ass in the gym and start working out! 45 days is not that long- Don't do too much too soon, but get started- back up to where you were 3 months prior to Sabbatical and start there. If you weren't keeping a workout journal- get one- and start.
