Calorie counting didn't work for me either, even with no cheating

Maybe you should try something different?

Sorry to hear you are sounding so down about this Ruby ☹️ Did you have chance to read all the earlier replies and suggestions offered? In particular my reply here? healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh.....

Please don’t despair, lost of us have struggled and understand.

You say in your profile that you lost weight ten years ago and had six years of being slim. How did you lose the weight that time? And more importantly, how did you keep it off for six years? You know you can do it, because you have done it before. I do understand that it's hard though. I'm a Maintainer who is struggling with my weight keep ballooning up, but if I am ruthlessly honest with myself, it's because I am overeating at the moment. I'm finding it hard to motivate myself, because I know it's a slow journey, and like everyone else, I want quick results!

But as someone here once said to me (and you have implied exactly this in your post), "Dieting is hard. Being fat is hard. Choose your hard!"

I wonder if your expectations are too high, rubyvirk.

A week and a half ago you were eating up the "bad food" in the fridge. A week ago, you said you had lost two pounds. You've been given some good suggestions about eating enough and including healthy fats in your diet. What changes have you made? 2lbs loss in the 12 days since you joined the forum is pretty good going.

It's difficult to give constructive suggestions without knowing what you're doing at present i.e. what it is that is "not working". If you make the Daily Diary part of your regular routine, you'll find a lot of help there and you can help by encouraging others who are struggling.

Sometimes weight goes up for numerous reasons. Try measurements? It might be another way to keep you focused and motivated x

You sound really fed up. Let's face it, both being far and dieting can do that to us. I think planning ahead a little helps, so that when you get hungry you know what you're having and don't get tempted by the biscuit barrel. I double veg, halve protein and avoid sugar and carbs. I also try to avoid buying treats because I'd they're not in the cupboard I can't eat them. I keep a tub of homemade veg soup in fridge that heats in microwave in mins when I'm suddenly hungry. Good luck and keep at it, what doesn't show up one week will show up the next.
