So, having not done anything for two months I found something to get me started. I am going on a trek to the Himalayas late 2020. So, with my husband I am now exercising in a gym twice a week. I love it! Still can't jump or run but my walking now includes 10 mile walks once a fortnight. Daily I do a 2 mile walk. I need to be super fit for this trek. My diet is the next to tackle - portion control, cutting out crisps and having just one pudding a week.
I do feel I have more energy. This will increase once my diet is back under control.

Awesome! I did that this summer (2018) and it totally inspired my weight loss and got me so much fitter. Where are you going? I went to the Indian himalayas
Katmandu (we are volunteering for the hospice there - painting, gardening, whatever needs doing) then trekking to Poon Hill, Nepal. The views from there are supposed to be fantastic. We will see the Annapurna range. Then, if we are able to stay another week (3 in total) we will head to the lower slopes of Mt Everest.
Oh fabulous! Nepal is wonderful and your voluntary jab sounds great. I've been to Pokhara and trekked to Sarankot , just incredible views. The fitter you are, the better your body will cope with the altitude, every single step you do between now and then will buy you added enjoyment and really tangible benefit. I'd love to trek the annapurna circuit - it's on my bucket list!!
