I'm having a hard time eating healthy. I gave up chocolate as since Christmas I just ate and ate it.I dont eat crisps or bread as I'm not keen on them. But it's the snacking I have trouble with, I see the fruit bowl and turn my nose up at it. I buy all the right foods but then the cherry tomatoes just stay in the fridge and the eggs in the carton. My downfall is cake! I always have a good healthy breakfast and I drink loads of milk but if someone offers me a cake or when I'm bored I go to the cafe for cake! (But only drink water with it as can't afford the latte!)

You managed to wean yourself off chocolate, by giving it up altogether and I suggest that's the route you need to take with cake and any and all snacking. Have a look at this, Fatburn

Thanks for sharing, Fatburn and moreless !
This is very timely for me as I can see I lost weight when I stopped the snacks, and now I am allowing them to creep back in I am struggling a little bit to maintain. This is the kick up the beam-end that I need to knock them on the head again. They just don't work for me. So I need to eat decent satisfying meals instead.
Fatburn, I think you need to find something else to do when you are bored - make a list of the things you like to do when you have the time - whether it's go for a walk, swim, read a book, browse a charity shop ... Do you work? If not, could you work? Or do voluntary work? Even for a few hours a week? Just some ideas, but you will work out what suits you.
My other tip is when you feel snacky, drink a pint of water (I have a hot sugar-free orange squash although I'm not sure that's approved Health-Unlocked behaviour! But I figure it has to be better than chocolate.)
And practise saying "no thank you" beautifully and gracefully - I found it quite empowering when dealing with kind people who were forever offering me cake, biscuits etc.
When I go to a friend's house, I have often cycled there, so they are used to me asking for "a great big glass of water" when I arrive, and that usually satisfies their "hospitality" urge!
Good luck.
Thank you! Yes I do work and that's where we have lots of treats bought in! But I will practise my self restraint and manners to say no to them.
Great video Moreless, very thought provoking and scary ☹️
However, if anyone is watching this, what is often referred to as ‘Intermittent Fasting’ is simply what my Grandmother would have called Normal Eating, no snacks, no eating after your evening meal and a good 14 hours between dinner and the next days breakfast
Different things work for different people, but I have noticed that when I allow myself a treat I am really fussy now. If I have a pudding it has to be one I really love, if I have cake it has to be home made etc. If I have chocolate it has to be my favourite etc. I think the fat/sugar mix is made to be addictive in processed foods and note that when I have eaten this mixture I am more likely to want it again. I now try and eat 3 meals a day and allow for a few nuts, fruit or a full fat yoghurt if hungry in between. It is a habit now and it takes time to develop a new one Good luck.
You managed to get rid of chocolate well done. Why not have some mixed nuts or popcorn (Home made ). If you have more fats you may not want the cake as you will be full. If I cut things completely out I would want them even more. I cut out a Daily latte at the coffee shop, as it became too expensive now it’s 1 a week. On a Saturday that’s my treat. I also enjoy it more now also look forward to it. As you said you don’t buy the coffee as it is expensive, l think the cake is more expensive than the coffee. (My opinion only. Don’t take offence)
Don’t deprive yourself add it into you daily Diary. Some cakes can be frozen so I nother idea is to buy one slice it then have one now and again.
Hope you man to work it out. Joining in the different parts of the forum also helps. 😊😊😊
So true, Hidden !
I have saved a ton of money since I decided to lose weight - I no longer visit the café next door for a hot choc or a cake, and I bring my own lunches in to work instead of buying a sandwich or a pasty, I've saved around £25 a week.
I told myself I would limit myself to a hot choc once a week (Friday!) once I reached my goal weight, but I no longer want it, isn't that funny?
I didn’t mention the saving money that was a slip up. Yes it definitely does safe money. Although I still haven’t got any. But I do have Short holiday breaks already payed for this year. Which is good for me. Instead of the money going to the coffee shop. 😊😊
