Hello K-J1 and welcome 😊

Some GP practices offer gym passes, some refer people to healthy eating programmes and some send them to diet companies. You would need to find out from your GP practice what, if anything, they offer.

If you're wanting to lose weight, bear in mind that exercise only plays a small part, though it has so many other benefits. What will be most important for you is finding a healthy way of eating that you can enjoy for life, probably ditching some habits and nurturing new ones.

This will show you a list of all the forum has to offer healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... The best advice I can give is to get involved as much as possible.

Here’s today's weigh in: it's not just about listing our weights, it's about supporting each other so do take time to say a few words to the others you'll meet there. Read the opening post and it will explain all healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

This Newbie pack has all the information you need to find your way around and to get started healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

We also ask that you read this information about internet privacy and security healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Wishing you all the best and I hope you become an active member of the forum 😊

I have recently been given a gym referral. It was offered by my GP, so I would start there.I chose to go to my local leisure centre. It was not free. I have had to pay £70 for the 12 weeks, my GP did not warn me about that. There are a number of classes available but none suitable for me as they are during the day when I'm at work and aimed at different needs. However, the personal trainer has been great at getting a very overweight, scared, middle-aged female to become comfortable using the gym. I am half way through and enjoying exercise and increasing fitness.
