This is the suggested calorie intake by NHS for my BMI (35)

Now that I started to count the calories, I see how much I ate today. Now have finished my dinner, I still have 800 cal left to eat :o I feel that I need to eat more then I ever done before to lose weight??? If anyone know a good calculator for average cal burning a day and recommend calorie intake please share with me. 2000+ cal seems to much. :/ From sweets and sugar it is easy but from helathy options this amount will make me explode :D

Have you used the NHS BMI calculator? If so the amounts will be right if you have put in the right information.

It is not hard to up calories, use olive oil to cook in or add to salad dressings, add a hard boiled egg to salads, have some nuts, include some berries and lovely thick double cream, put cream in your coffee, eat fatty meat, use avocado, have a hunk of cheese. All these things are good to eat and will not make a huge difference to the actual amount you are eating, will just up the calories.

You don't have to eat the highest number suggested if you are really feeling too full, I would suggest you knock 100/200 of highest total and see how you go :)

Yes I used the NHS BMI calculator. Thanks lucigret, will buy some cream and nuts although I don't really like them. Avocado makes me sick so that is off from my list :D

It’s a learning curve Ivus, and you will soon get used to eating more calories without eating the sugar etc 😊.

Only eat what you enjoy. Have you tried macadamia nuts, a bit pricey, but lovely and creamy and you don't need many at all to add 200 calories :)

Hello Ivus,

I have the same issue when I stick to my calorie allowance (upper limit 2149 cals).

It's easy to slip back into old habbits where sugar and saturated fat are concerned, isn't it?

Do you feel full with what you've eaten today?

From what I gather, it's about making *smarter* food choices such as choosing full-fat foods (like cheese, yoghurt and milk for example) over low-fat versions.

You could also add a small handful of nuts or seeds to a meal (or have them as a snack). Nut and seed butters, such as peanut butter are another good option.

Avocados, boiled eggs and fatty fish (such as salmon or mackrel) are all higher in calories and 'good' fats.

absolutely right *smarter* choices :)

Yes I have had all the healthy options today. I have tried nuts and peanut butter even I don't like the taste of them and the worst is they cause acnes and bad breakouts on my skin so cant have them often :( I will try add more cheese and cream to my plan but they have a bad impact on my digestion as I have noticed through the years therefore I dont eat much diary, milk in my coffee and cheese and yoghurt sometimes. Eggs make me bloted. I have tried different food groups to see how they effect my digestion and what i am sensitive for so I haven't got many choices left. But I will do my best thanks everyone ❤

Hi, Ivus ...

You cannot loose weight by eating more calories.

The NHS BMI daily calorie consumption for weight loss is only a guide.

If you loose more than two pounds a week, eat more!

My BMI was about 35, I am disabled and cannot exercise, and I have been loosing two pounds a week on, I think, about 1,000 calories a day.

I think that on 2,000 calories a day I would maintain 18 Stone!

Yes I eat almonds and Brazil nuts ...loads of calories soon consumed if find you need to eat a few more. Plus I have found they are great for strengthening my nails ! An unexpected bonus.
