Life in UK...

For the first time in my life I have had a high reading for my BP. 35 years in Africa kept it low, kept excess weight off but 18 months in UK and all that has changed. The weight has creeped up insidiously! Now my BMI indicates 'overweight'! So I started last week on calories restriction and so far I have lost 1 kg.

Well done, Tsega, why not join today's weigh-in and share your good news with the rest of the Monday Mass Movers! :)

Hi, Tsega ...

¿Have you been eating more because the UK climate makes you feel cold?

¿Have you been on a less healthy diet since moving to the UK?

Yes, less healthy diet, I love toast! So now no toast!

Welcome Tsega, can I ask you why do you think you are eating a less healthy diet now, compared to when you were in North Africa? Do you know what has changed and why? You mention toast.

Have you been to the daily diary thread, it will be in your welcome post from moreless. It is a great place to get ideas for menus. Also check out some of the recipies that other members have posted. The threads can be found on the right hand side of the screen.

Good luck

Thank you Nekoj, it is so special that folk respond and so encouraging. I was in Ethiopia and ate pulses and the basic cereal 'teff' that is made into a pancake. You never eat alone always in community and you always share. All that prevents gaining weight. So now, I realise that I have to eat less and much slower and with that in mind the kilos are falling away!

That is wonderful that you are on a downward weightloss slope.

It must be different and challenging moving to the UK and adjusting.

We are a friendly bunch and supportive of individual members journeys. If you live close to a major city you can buy a huge range of food so you will not go short on essentials that you would get back in Ethopia.

Good luck.
