Hi

This time last year I had lost nearly 2 stone ( starting weight 14 stone 5lbs). Now today I am 14stone 1lbs again. I am not exercising, overeating to the point my stomach hurts. I don’t know why I am doing this.... it is making me miserable. I start eat day with good intentions but they never last the morning let alone the day. What’s wrong with me 😢😢

There is nothing wrong with you nellie_deany . We all have them moments when we lose sight of our goal but your here now so let's do this. To start you off use the BMI checker to calculate your daily calories. If you need any extra support to get you back on track use the Daily Diary in Events to share your menu for the day.

Have a good week. :)

Hi nellie_deany. You are not alone. This sounds a bit like me.. I start of every day with good intent and although I don't eat much it is the wrong stuff, I don't move enough and spend every evening feeling disappointed with myself. All we can do is try again and treat every day as a new beginning until hopefully something changes in our mindset, which I believe it will. Good luck today, and tomorrow and each new day 😀

Hi lizziep , I agree with you about turning the page and starting fresh the next day but if it becomes a pattern it may be worthwhile staying on the page for a few minutes, working out where you tripped yourself up yesterday and deciding how you will do it differently today.

Where does the "wrong stuff" come from? Is it at home, and if so does it need to be in the house? Is it outside, at work etc? If so, what/where are your alternatives?

You're sticking with it, which is great, and you've lost weight but establishing new healthy habits does take time. Just chip away at it (excuse the reference to chips ;) ) and take advantage of any slip up to plan for better decisions the next time.

Good luck :)

It's called being human. think you have to reassess your goals and congratulate yourself for previous success. You did it once and you can do it again. I am telling myself this too as I have started back on the chocolate and cakes. Good luck you are very definitely not alone

Hi, Sympathy!.... I really agree with marymanc... great advice:" working out where you tripped yourself up yesterday and deciding how you will do it differently today.

Where does the "wrong stuff" come from? Is it at home, and if so does it need to be in the house? Is it outside, at work etc? If so, what/where are your alternatives?"

Just not having temptation in the house or at work is a HUGE KEY!! Don't buy it, don't stock it!! All my good intentions have gone out the window, when for some reason somehow has given me a cake, or I've bought chocolates for guests or I'm offered stuff at work..

I don't know your family situation, but folk say that if they are still eating other foods you shouldn't that too will make a difference. & you need them to get on side with you.... try & identify the issues as mary said .....then you can tackle them!

We do have good & bad days & weeks, don't beat yourself up ... but getting the tools to fight the bad weeks is vital. Do you think though something has triggered the spiral... stress, change in circumstances?? ( e.g. I comfort-eat when I am unhappy/stressed/bored- I realise that now so am putting into place alternatives to de-stress without the calories, crafts, good music, puzzles, colouring! whatever )

Keeping a " food diary" really helped me initially.... Track every thing you eat and drink as it really pinpoints when and what you do that are the pressure/trigger points.

I don't know what your daily routine is but ensuring you are also "occupied" can be very very helpful. If I'm not working I eat far more; if I don't have activities etc I'm engaged in, or sitting watching tv etc . I will mooch about, at the cupboard, peering in the fridge,...when I'm occupied "doing" stuff, I don't have time to think about my stomach... boredom doesn't help!

It is amazing what you had achieved .It proves you have the ability to do it again. You CAN as others have said, keep chipping away , step by step, set yourself a small goal each half day, extend it. Eat plenty of foods that will fill you up without the calories.... fruit, at least a third of your plate with green veg & salad... to ensure you are NOT hungry... over time our stomachs and our hearts are re-educated again to happily eat healthily. Really urging you on!

Have you thought about small snacks in between. I have found if I dont eat enough during the day I’m ravenous in the afternoon or evening. Stay strong Nellie
