Dear Megzz
There is only one way to lose weight and that is to eat less calories than you expend.
So my tips
1. Look on this site to see what you should weigh for healthy BMI. And decide if you need to lose weight and if so how much
2. Count the calories of everything you eat or drink to see how much you consume.
3. If you need to lose weight decide on how you are going to eat less and be more active
4. If you can, get a fit bit or similar which works out your calories and counts your steps
5. Be honest with yourself
6. Clear your home of calorific unhealthy food so you are not tempted to binge or snack
You can do it when you are determined
Best wishes

Hi Megzz welcome to the forum- you will get a lot of support from fellow users. As pcrw mentioned, you need to eat slightly less than you need- the NHS BMI calculator will work out your calorie requirement based on gender, age, exercise level and current age and give you to ranges- upper and lower range. I found the NHS 12 week weight loss plan useful and MyFitnessPal app/website is good for recording your food- though it does exclude exercise level but you can alter the calorie allowance to reflect the NHS allowance which most users seem to recommend.
Rather than focus on 20kg or whatever is recommended break it into mini goals so its more manageable- 4kg per month for example.
Good luck
