Christmas is upon us now through to January 1st. What are people doing to help themselves through the season of food such as parties and get togethers. Thanks.

December 1st...
Hi Wadestreet ,
I won't be doing alot of partying on the lead up to Christmas so I'm hoping to stay good until Christmas week. It's my turn to have all the family for Christmas dinner this year so I will give myself 3 days off over Christmas then go back onto plan after boxing day. Boxing day is always a big party planned as it is my brother's birthday.
Eating way too much!!!
Although the season of excess may be beginning, for me, very little changes.
Granted, there may be days of occasional excess, but for the large part, I'll continue to eat healthily while ensuring that I frequent the gym 4-5 times each week.
It may be December, but a further 24 days exist before the bearded guy pulls on his red suit and begins to fulfil the wishes of those who've written to him (how does he manage it all in a mere 24 hours?).
As such, provided a daily calorie deficit continues to be maintained for the majority of month and that exercise continues to be undertaken regularly throughout, there's no reason why occasional evenings of excess cannot be enjoyed without guilt.
Since I'm an inherent early riser, I currently remain undecided about giving Xmas day a miss, but do fully intend upon gracing my local gym on Boxing Day (Pure Gym Sunderland), to burn off the excess of Xmas day upon the StairMaster. One thing is certain, I will be there early on Xmas Eve, since 3 days without attending the gym would cause my mood to turn incredibly sour.
I could be considered as mad, but as I also run barefoot during summer months, it's a title I'm happy to carry.
Nonetheless, the difference between exercising and not between 22nd December - 2nd January can be as much at 10lbs, particularly if TDEE is continually exceeded over the festive period.
As such, give serious thought towards reneging upon dietary and fitness commitments throughout December.
Exactly.
I don’t have any parties etc to go to but I will be cooking Christmas dinner so will have that but I’ve noticed how since being on this journey I can’t do large portions anyway and I will just have to have a bit of Christmas pud and Christmas cake but that’s it back to watching what I eat. Hope everyone manages to enjoy the festive season be strong and don’t undo all your good work so far it’s not worth it. 🎄
Thank-you I needed to hear that. Enjoy but not over abundance Your right it is not worth it. I had a bad day yesterday but no more goodies but a few on Christmas day.
Well said!
That’s my idea to try and follow. Be strong.
I hate it when people try and force food on us and try to avoid these situations...
You will be ok and you are in control of you. I used to hate it when I went to relatives houses and kept getting asked to drink and join in, it made me feel like I was odd as I don't drink very much alcohol at all through choice no other reason. In the end I had to tell them I'd sooner have a cup of tea lol
I liked your reply, I don’t drink any alcohol, gave it up when I was caring for my father and had to be fit to drive night and day, I don’t bother anymore...What hate is when people offer food, ‘“Oh go on have one of these or try this, go on one won’t hurt, you must try thisI made it especially “ They don’t seem to understand , a polite no thanks.. I can’t wait to get out of there...... I sound like a misery don’t I....
