I've been reading up on this & would like to know if anyone has been successful with it?
I'm concerned about the low calorie daily allowance in particular. Just seems to go against what I learned on this forum.

I've not tried it, but a friend locally to me has had good success with it and no bad effects.. I am sure you will get many responses on here..

I can’t speak highly enough of the 8 week BSD
Has changed me completely in conjunction with walking 10000 steps a day
I did not find it difficult to stick to and found food cravings stopped after 48 hours

Hello Dazzle. I completed the diet at the beginning of the year doing 6 out of 8 weeks as I didn't have lots of weight to lose and I'm not diabetic. I lost 1.5 stone during that time. It was easy as I was in the right mindset, which I think is 90% of the battle with weight loss. Also I felt the most changed physically in that the low starchy carb regime, really suited my body. I had massively increased energy and noticeably improved mental clarity. The only downside for me was maintaining the loss. I love potatoes and so I was always going to gravitate back to them. I'm an all or nothing carb eater and what I haven't managed to ever do, is eat them in a sensible amount.
If you do it, you will lose weight and probably very fast. It's great for the immediate 'feedback' you get on the scales. Good luck!!

I really really struggle to eat 1600 calories a day so think it might be a better way forward for me personally. I have learnt so much from this forum over the last few weeks but, some of the principles of the blood sugar diet go against my new knowledge if that makes sense?
i think it must be something you have to be committed to. I have been trying to do the blood sugar diet way for a week, and even when eating out I have not touched carbs. But I think the full fat (which I love, and I have not felt hungry once!) is the reason I seem to have put on a couple of pounds this week! Maybe if I stick with it, that will even itself out, providing it’s not a week when I have too many social activities!!

Yes, after years of being conditioned to avoiding fat in large amounts & to go for low fat versions it is hard to adapt
My concern here is that 800 cals a day is below every recommended threshold for healthy eating that doesn't damage metabolism.. I'm no scientist but from what I've read sustained very low calorie eating will only set the bar for gaining extremely low. My worry is I'd be stuck eating 1200 a day on maintenance. Not ideal.
Fasting I agree with more because my logic says as long as there are more days of 'plenty' than of 'famine' my body should recognise that we aren't in trouble and there's no need to slow the metabolism..

Yes, the 800 is my concern too!
Even for a slim person it isn't recommended that a dip below 1000 is sustained for more than 2 daysin a row. Of course the science is evolving and our understanding of nutrition is changing all the time but I've not found anything to dispute that advice...

Hi dazzle. . I'm following the BSD and i find it very satisfying. I don't have more than a few pounds to lose so i sometimes have an extra meal in the day... say an extra breakfast from the menu.I was a huge carb addict.... i loved potatoes and bread...
I can see myself continuing like this for life. My body shape has completely changed... gone is the soft bloated belly. I don't miss the potatoes rice bread or pasta at all, as the full fat, albeit in small quantities, leaves the body feeling very satisfied.
Read the book and see if it makes sense to you and see if you could fit it into your own requirements.

It goes against a lot of the expert advice on a suitable number of calories. On the other hand, it does concur well with the latest research on how to avoid or even reverse diabetes. So as a weight loss diet, maybe it's not such a good idea, but if you have diabetes or are at risk of developing it, it could be a great idea.
