Can anyone recommend any cookbooks? I’m stuck in a food rut of sorts and need inspiration on family friendly dinners on a budget. Thank you in advance x

i suggest logging on to the Daily diaries first before forking out for cook books and also look on the recipe section in the topics section too ;)

Saying that load of people are talking about Hairy Dieters books / recipes :)

Ah that’s what HD stands for. I did wonder. I have seen some amazing menu ideas for meals on the DDs but haven’t got the foggiest how to make them lol x

Hi Hidden , I use HD books and think they're fab.😊

I am happy with absolutely any cookbook, read them like most people read novels.

I would agree with Hidden and check out DD and the recipe section in Topics.

Dear Our Natd

I found the illustrated 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book really good, all calorie counted and full of flavour.

You can give extras to those in the family who aren't dieting e.g. Potatoes and pasta and you have celeriac mash and courgetti spaghetti instead or cauliflower rice

Hi pcrw , Hope you don't mind me asking you a question while on this thread? I have been thinking about doing the blood sugar diet for a period of 8 weeks then going back to the NHS plan. I have a fatty liver-discovered when I had my gall bladder removed nearly 2 years ago as emergency surgery- I also crave sugar. I have just ordered the book after reading up on it but wondered if I should consult my GP first. I know you are not medically trained but would appreciate your opinion. Thanks in anticipation. K

It says in the book you should tell your doctor particularly if you are on medication. I did the diet for a couple of weeks then and emailed my GP when I had lost 3kg and my blood pressure dropped so I asked for my medication to be reviewed.

My GP replied by email but did not ask to see me .

I think you must do what's right for you

Thank you pcrw for your prompt reply. The only medicine I take is a low dose of levothyroxene for an underactive thyroid but I will consult my GP.

K😊
