Hi, I'm 38 years old and have been trying to loose weight for the past 13 years since I had my first child. The more I tried to loose the weight the more I've put on. So I have gone from 50 kg to 72kg. I really hope this app works for me... as it's really getting me down.

Hi and welcome to the weight loss forum Aysun :)

Well done for taking the first step and coming here, that is always the hardest. You will receive lots of friendly advice and support here, and are never on your own, as we are all going through the same journey :)

The first thing to do is to check your bmi on the NHS calculator. This will also tell you how many calories you should be eating per day. Always start at the higher end of the calorie allowance.

There are many things that you can join in here eg The Daily Diary, where you record each day what you will be eating.and how many calories it all contains. There is also a daily weigh in aswell.

One of the Administrators will reply to you shortly with lots more advice and handy tips.

Wishing you all the best with your weight loss journey and have a good first week. You can do this :)

Just stay on track k and you'll see the changes. Good luck to you on your journey!

Hi and welcome

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :) and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Wishing you all the best on your journey :)

Hi there Aysun when I first joined I never lost weight either and put weight on but found out on here, why this happened. I was never eating enough calories as I only had around 1000 Cals a day instead of 2000 Cals. I was told to check my details on the NHS bmi calculator and to check out how many calories I should have to lose weight. They give you two amounts and eat somewhere between these amounts, preferably the higher amount as you have amounts you can drop if needed. I found out that by not eating enough calories my body thought I was starving it and turned everything I did eat into body fat instead and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Please don't make this mistake as well. Good luck with your journey.
