Hello just signed up as I have reached a plateau and can't seem to get moving again. I don't loose weight easily anyway and I put that down to age (64) and the fact that I have an under active thyroid. Perhaps I'm wrong on those points but would welcome any comments. I get exercise with my gardening and I like to walk. I love exercise and would love to use the gym but not within my budget - only have state pension

Hi I don't go to a gym but have managed to loose weight following the NHS 12 weight loss plan- eating 1400-1550 calories a day. I walk very fast and have increased my rate from 18min/mile to 13-14mins/mile. The NHS choices has a selection of 10min exercises which you can print off- its on the living well page. Also a 5 week strength & flex regime.
Have you measured yourself- since though the weight may have stayed the same you can still loose inches. The NHS plan has a week which focuses on plateauing which may you gve some ideas- week 11- its free, If i remember correctly its gets you to look at what you are eating again snce you may unconsciuosly having larger portions, change you exercise regime etc.
Yes, being hypothyroid myself weight loss is very difficult. I have been on this journey since last September and have only recently got to the 2 stone weightloss. It can be very disheartening sometimes but don't give up, if i can do it anyone can.
2 stone seems good to me! I have just come to the end of week 12 and I managed to put weight on in the final week! So I have lost 4.5kg which is I think about 9 pounds. Not much but my post it note says "aim for progress and not perfection". Good luck we just have to keep soldeiring on and we'll get there.
