Sunshine: Hi, just found this support... - Weight Loss Support

Hi Sunshine!! I'm new too but this does seem like a very positive place!! Thought I'd just say welcome!
Welcome Hidden !
Yes this is a really positive forum with super supportive members who you can rely on to offer advice and support.
You'll shortly be officially welcomed by one of our amazing administrators.
Good luck on the journey xx.
Thanks so much yay π
Hi Gypsy3,
Thanks and hello to you too.
Tomorrow is my first day following NHS healthy eating plan so onwards and upwards. Off to Bulgaria end of June and looking fwd to my first goal which is drop a dress size for my holiday π
Hi, I'm new around here too. I agree, it is very exciting. I'm very glad I found this little community. Was calculating my BMI on the NHS website, and this forum was suggested to me. Anyway, welcome!
They're already in English ? Not sure what you mean Hidden ??
I received a message in Spanish but I'm probably doing something wrong π¬
Hi and welcome, Margaret
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi and welcome
Best tips, make small changes that are sustainable,
Set mini goals and reward yourself (non-food) for achieving them
Check nhs bmi calculator for your calorie allowance
Find an exercise you enjoy
Keep active on the forum, join a challenge, weigh in, do the daily diary for help, support and ideas, chat, ask questions or just read the posts
Most importantly enjoy your journey and have fun
Good luck
Kat xx

Hi if you have windows 10 and the store app- there is a food diary which is free where you can log your food and it orks out your calories for you and its easy to use. Others use MyFitnessPal app on their phones (I think that what it is called). I basically eat what I usually eat but mix the meals up better so when I eat a meal heavy in calories I choose a meal light in calories for the next meal of the day. Some days I would eat a lot of calories then another day I probably ate too little calories. I've also looked to buy low fat (but checking the sugar levels, since they are often high in those types of food) versions of what I like and avoid the crisp aisle when I go shopping and only buy packets of baked crisps the day before I plan to eat them. I'd recommend planning meals for the week so you can focus the food shopping list buying what you need for the week rather than what you would normally buy. I am not a chocolate or biscuit person, but those who are don't buy them so they are not in the house to tempt them!
its all trial and error- what works for me may not work for you but its trying the tips recommended that you feel will work for you and see what happens- if it works great if it doesn't then try something else.
Good luck
