Hi, I'm new here and to NHS diet plan. My Bmi is 26.4. I would like to be in healthy range. My problem is my worry about maintaining weight loss. I can do the weight loss, but put it back on and more. It's making me feel like 'what's the point's. I'm 50 something and have fibromyalgia and think I need to stay positive so that I don't create future problems on overall health and joints. I need motivation and belief!

I've lost belief in my ability to lose weight
Hi Frances49
Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Come and join in with today's weigh in to record your starting weight, you can find it on the Home page on the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

Hi nice to meet you. It sounds to me that you were probably an 'extreme' dieter cutting out most things, skipping meals and going hungry sometimes? If this is the case the reason why you put on so much weight when you stopped your diet was probably because you had put your body into starvation mode, thus lowering your metabolism which of course make you put more weight back on when you started to eat normally again. It is a vicious circle and called yo-yo dieting.
The answer is healthy eating not 'diet' and this is what the NHS plan does. It is sustainable for life and should allow you to lose weight in a healthy way and to maintain it when you get there. It is not another diet.
Hi, I think you're right. I've got to change habits and think healthy eating, not I'm on another diet:-). Thank you
Hi, I've been exactly the same. Know how to lose but not maintain. Thats why ive decided no more fad diets and a change of life style and healthy eating is now for me. Even if it takes me longer to reach my goal then so be it. Good luck on your own journey
Hi, the penny is beginning to drop with me. Healthy lifestyle not dieting! I agree that change takes time too. Thank you.
A friend of mine struggled with this too and upped her exercise and it helped, instead of constantly dieting she exercised a little harder on treat days and found that worked for her
