So I've been obese ever since primary school . I used to get bullied and found solace in food but once I left school I stopped it ,however, the weight gain didn't . I found out it's because of hypothyroidism. I've been trying to lose weight for years but nothing seems to be working and due to my 2 degenerated disc I can't do much physical activity. Recently I've been getting weight loss tips from people I know and I know it's out of concern but it's making me depressed . I've considered starving or making myself puke every time I eat but haven't had the guts to do it . I just want it all to stop .

Hello Miss_PPP and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺ Thyroid problems and back pain will make weight loss more difficult but not impossible. And other people's comments can hurt but it's your life and your body. Sometimes the act of taking control can boost our self esteem so give it a go. Unfortunately there is no quick fix but trust me, you will feel better very soon if you follow the plan 😊
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺ (Please note if you are using the new HU App these facilities aren't available yet so you may prefer to use the full website version)
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Best wishes
Anna
You can lose weight, slowly and healthily without doing any radical or dangerous. The 12 week plan will help and as you lose weight you will feel better in every way. Good luck and keep posting. The forum can be really helpful.
Hello Miss_PPP I am sorry you feel so down. Have you spoken to your GP my GP was brilliant when I felt depressed and I completed a course of CBT which I found really really helpful. Please don't starve yourself or make yourself sick. it won't make you feel better it will make you more depressed. you have made a really positive step forward joining the forum and simple lifestyle changes that you can read about in the newbies section coupled with a visit to your GP would be much better for your mental health 😀 I wish you luck and determination and will you let us know how you get on
Hi, have you spoken to your Dr about seeing a dietician or nutritionist? With your condition they should be able to tailor a plan specific to your needs.. The weight may come off slowly, but it should still come off. Good luck
I'd second advising you to see your GP. I don't have much knowledge of hypothyroidism but your doctor should be able to refer you if he can't help you himself!
Good luck and welcome!
Hi Miss-PPP, how awful to suffer bullying because of your weight. If you have been diagnosed as having hypothyroidism I hope that also means you have been prescribed thyroxine? It often takes quite a while after started on medication for it to be effective, but once it kicks in you'll have a 'helping hand' to lose some weight!
Just take one day at a time and as others have said, keep following this forum, it's so helpful. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
Thank you all for your messages . I truly appreciate them . Will make an arrangement to see my GP and a counsellor for mental health care. Will also follow your advice on the plan . Thank you for caring and not sending demotivating replies like other people I know .
