Firstly, congratulations on giving up smoking. In my opinion that is one of the hardest things you'll ever do.
Try not to let the weight gain impact your confidence. It should be the other way around and you should feel really proud of yourself that you gave up smoking I'm not sure many people stop smoking and don't put on weight. That will be temporary as your body works through the changes.
There are a number of different methods for losing weight and I would recommend that 'currently' you follow the NHS 12 week plan. This will still allow you to eat what you always have (within reason ) without removing anything else from your lifestyle. The main thing that changes is the portion size.

I'm in agreement with Tiggerr , so I have just come along to say welcome to the forum, we are a very supportive lot. All I would add is to check your BMI, that will tell you how many calories to eat, don't be tempted to cut right back, it will only work in the short term.
If you can give up smoking you can do this, you obviously have some will power to succeed. Well done and good luck.
Hi Firecrow69, welcome to the forum. First of all congratulations on giving up cigarettes. As an ex smoker I know how hard that is. You should be really proud of yourself.
After that challenge, losing those extra pounds should be a walk in the park Seriously though, your determination and positivity will get you there. As you start to eat less and exercise more your weight will drop and your confidence will improve.

Hello and welcome Firecrow69 😊 Very well done on stopping smoking, you have prooved you are in control! Very best wishes with the next stage of your journey to health and fitness 😊
Huge congrats on giving up smoking. You've done yourself the biggest favour there and I'm sure you're feeling pleased with that achievement. As an ex smoker I know how hard that is to do.
I find visual aids helpful so I either make a weight loss vision board with inspirational pics from magazines, recipes, sayings, drawings, anything visually pleasing, positive and motivating, or I keep a food journal with recipes, my diet plans, weight and graphs, interspersed with my sketches and motivational sayings.
Biking is great fun and I'd recommend Tai Chi which is a very gentle stretching and mindful exercise, rather like slow martial arts. That is so uplifting. I used to go to classes, but I learnt the 24 forms on YouTube and now practice it in the garden to Tai Chi music.
I hope you find things to motivate and inspire you and good luck on your weight loss adventure 🙂
That's great you quit smoking. I am an ex-smoker myself. So I know how hard it is. So you can put that determination into eating healthy. 3 meals and snack in between to help with the hunger between meals. And try to get out in moving around. I hope you have a great journey and get involved in the forum as you can. Good luck!!
