Hi there!

I started on Tuesday and so far have been using this website (link below) for inspiration on meal ideas. I've eaten 3 meals and they have all been really tasty.

Since I'm reading this whilst eating my lunch, I'll share with you what Ive eating right now!.......Although its a bit odd as I'm still using up xmas leftovers!

I have 200g of plain boiled sweet potatoes, 100g of mushrooms stir-fried with a few sprays of olive oil, a fat tablespoon of humus on top, and 50g of smoked salmon, which doesn't really go but needs eating. Its surprisingly tasty, and around 320 cals. I'll either have a piece of fruit or a kitkat for pud in about an hours time. Hmmm....I'm probably not the right person to share recipe ideas with!

Lots of people on here use my fitness pal to track calories and exercise - I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to have a look at it.

Good luck for your weight loss.

It IS tasty, though admittedly strange. I work from home so usually just eat odds and ends for lunch in fairly experimental combinations!

That sounds like my kinda meal: driving my kid stir crazy!

I used to take the "John West light lunches" to work as they needed no preparation and are all calorie counted, and quite satisfying ...(but only if you like fish)! Finish with a yogurt or piece of fruit.

Suggestion for a good dinner is a chicken or tofu stirfry with plenty of veg, half the noodles you might normally use and a calorie counted sauce...makes a big plateful. For an easy dessert, split and microwave an over-ripe banana for a minute or so (or until cooked), with a little melted chocolate on it and a scoop of ice-cream.

Hey these John West light lunches are working a treat ! Just wondering if you got bored of these or if there are any other similar ready made lunches that you used?

Thanks x

There are various ready meals out there where you just add boiling water and wait 5 mins - noodles, curries etc. Just check the calories on the label first!

You can buy a flask with a thick neck for soups - blitz any dinner leftovers with some chicken stock and a few cooked veg; season to taste and take to work to microwave at work, or heat at home and take in the thermos flask. Have a small piece of crusty bread or some crispbreads with it, and some fruit for afters.

Wraps are always good - no need for any spread (as with a sandwich) and you can fill them with salad and cold meat. Have a yogurt or banana or handful of nuts for afters.

Another time, chop a few salad pieces into a tupperware box and take a tub of cottage cheese, with some fruit.

For mid-morning snacking; I used to take a little pot with mixed seeds (pumpkin, sunflower etc) and chopped dried fruit which keeps you munching for some time, but again, in moderation!

i think you can't beat a Spanish omelette for quickness for meals .. and it uses up anything you have in the fridge as u can put anything into it... which come in handy when your veg drawer is looking a bit sad but you want sonething to eat.. so its quick & cheap as it saves you having to throw it away food !
