Hello dicdoc2 and welcome to the forum.

Despite the fact that SW hasn’t worked as you’d hoped it would, you can rest assured that the weight loss forum will provide a wealth of advice, support and encouragement to help you to achieve your goals in a far more relaxed manner.

Most comforting is the fact that the advice offered isn’t that of having to restrict consumption of the foods that you may love; they can still be enjoyed alongside, provided their calorific value is factored into your recommended intake.

You can still continue to have your cake (or cheese and wine) and eat it, too.

Provided you’re maintaining a daily calorie deficit from your recommended allowance, reducing consumption of simple carbohydrates (in favour of complex varities) and ensuring that regular exercise features as part of your weekly routine, you can and will lose weight while continuing to enjoy your favourite foods.

If it's structure that you require, check out the 12 Week Plan, since it’ll provide you with an idea of the kind of foods that ought to be consumed regularly and those that shouldn’t.

I’m sure that LowCal, moreless et al will be quick to welcome you, while also providing recommendations regarding the weekly weigh in and pinned post sections, etc.

However, don’t feel daunted or obligated by such a prospect, since the forum is without judgement. As I said, all you’ll receive is support and encouragement.

Hi Dicdoc2,

Yes, as MrNiceGuy said, in his lovely Welcome to you, the Weight Loss NHS forum is a great community and I hope you'll enjoy being part of it, and that we can help support you on your weight loss journey - we're all in this together, and it's definitely a very non-judgemental place, with lots of support.

The NHS 12 week plan is really good, and worth a look, and do join in with any Challenges you like the look of in the forum. The Monday group weigh-in is good fun, and myself and moreless post this alternately each week, so look out for our posts on Mondays, but we always put the latest thread in the Events section.

Wishing you a great weekend, and wishing you success with your weight loss goals.

Lowcal :-)

Morning didcot ,

Don't be disappointed with yourself be determined. I was a yo yo dieter been on every diet you can mention and I like you got fed up with not loosing weight , I came across this site and decided to do something about my weight ,first of all I thought oh I can't be bothered doing this weighing everything counting everything ,but I thought NO enough I don't like the way I look and I am the only one that can change it .so off I went bought two pairs of scales one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom .

Just used the calorie counter on this site , bought a large note pad and at the back of it I wrote down all the things I eat a lot of and how many calories were in them (saved me looking up all the time on the site ) and in the front of my book I wrote everything down that I ate making sure I did not go over my daily calories thought well here goes

Got everything out of the cupboard and fridge that was bad for me and gave it away

No processed food at all

Cooked everything from scratch

Bought some sugar free jellies made them up with a little fruit in (that was my treat in the evening) about 7 pm when I wanted to nibble

And when I went shopping I looked at all the calories on everything it's surprising the difference in calories i.e. Just in bread !!

The one thing I did not do that I should have done was measured myself , but never mind

I have gone from a size 14 down to a size 10 and I made hubby do it with me as he was getting a belly on him lol , I never thought I could do it but I am doing it and it is working if you weigh everything count everything

YOU WILL DO IT !!!!

So go on love we have a few more weeks left before Xmas see what you can achieve before then , I'm sure you can do it

Good luck !! Don't forget you are the only one that can change things

Start today not Monday as Monday never comes

And fingers crossed by Xmas you could have lost a few ponds for a new party dress 👗👠

Go on give it a go everyone here is so lovely and will help you all they can they sure did help me

Have a good week

Pam

Hi floxat60

We all flounder more often than we care to admit but just keep going , there is a saying slowly slowly catch a monkey if you take your time we will all do it ,

It may not be at the speed we want but little by little we will all get there in the end .

Have a lovely weekend

Maybe it is time to change your way of dieting. Stick within your calorie allowance and try to exercise as much as possible. I am sure if you stick with all the lovely people on this forum you will soon be back on track and see those scales moving down. Some lovely replies to your post from other members - you can do it!!! Best of luck :)

Hi dicdoc, i also joined sw last year and i found it very patronising it seemed really strange how every set of scales i weighed myself on including hospital scales, chemist and even the wii i weighed 10st 7lb exactly, but when i had my first weigh in at sw the scales put me half a stone heavier so i was deflated from the start it took me weeks to lose that 7lb which then put me back to 10st 7lb i stuck to it religiously also i found my sw leader was only interested in those that lost weight.

I never did like sitting around clapping like a load of seals at a freemasons function, there was never any personal time with my leader I was and still am going through a very difficult time with my husband having chemo and radio therapy and also my own health issues that are still on going (nothing like my husband) i wanted to do something for me but what is happening now is i calorie count all day but if i get worried and especially when watching my hubby struggle I hit the quick fixes like crisp and chocolate then feel dissapointed in myself.

I do actually move around its not like i sit all day i am a full time carer for my husband so that keeps me on my feet but also i would like to do some other kind of excercise at home but i dont know what as i have all these body aches and pains. I am 58 and 5ft 1inch I would like to lose about a stone in weight i carry my weight around my belly and being short it is more evident. lets just see how we get on good luck xx
