Hi all!!!: I'm Sarah, ive just come... - Weight Loss Support
Hi all!!!
Hi Sarahlou77 Binge Eating Disorder is a very serious condition and you really need to take advice from your doctor about treatment options. Do you have a follow -up consultation now you have your diagnosis?
Yes I have taken advice,he sent me on here to open up and try the 12 week plan, day 1 yesterday and really enjoyed itx
That's great...just wanted to make sure you knew none of us are medically trained although we all try and help each other. Hidden has given you some really positive advice - hope day two is going well
Hi Sarah and welcome to the community.
I have been a secret binge eater my whole life. I did not even know it was considered a disorder until I came across it in my Psychology A-level about 12 years ago when I was about 22. I did go to the Dr and they suggested Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It didn't work for me at the time but I don't think I was really motivated to give it a proper go, I also felt that no-one took the disorder seriously, not like anorexia or bulemia but it is serious because putting on weight causes so many health issues.
It is definitely something you need support with so probably best to discuss with your Dr again. I looked into Over Eaters Anonymous because I felt group support would be really beneficial but the local meeting was in work time.
I am finding this community really supportive for living healthily and losing weight but I am only 1 week in. I haven't tried forum's before and feel really comfortable about being honest on here because it is anonymous. Actually this is the first time I have mentioned binge eating on here but that is because I had other health issues to discuss and have noticed a couple of other posts about binge eating disorder so assumed it might be a fairly talked about thing on here that I could join in with when I felt the time was right. Having read your post I felt the time was right because it would be great to support each other.
Keep talking, I think it is a great way to receive support. Be honest and open and listen to people's tips, I have found this really helpful this week and have been trying out new recipes and ways of eating, for example serving dinner on a small plate so it looks like a nice big portion and stocking up on very healthy, low calorie soup.
I would be very interested to here more about your experience of binge eating and see how it compares to mine.
Hopefully speak soon
Thank you for replying, this is my first time on a forum aswell and mentioning it! I have been secretly bingeing for years and like you my weight and health is suffering, the doctor has been really supportive and he was the one that mentioned coming on here to open up as nobody nos you x it was my first day healthy eating yesterday and I really enjoyed it,thanks for the tip on using a smaller plate.i hope this is the time for me to get healthy and enjoy food again x
Hi Sarahlou77 and welcome to the page.
We all friendly people so if you ever need to talk, rant, or just post how your day is going most will reply. Good luck on your journey and as a ex binge eater i know how you feel and it does get better trust me on that
Hi Sarahlou I think you are fortunate to have discovered this page you are sure to find lots of encouragement and advice. Maybe iif you recogbise the signs of an episode coming on shut the kitchen door and do something completely different from eating will help like clearing a drawer or cupboard or phoning a friend anything to stop the urge. Your aim should be be to have three meals a day only with nothing in between until you get into a regular routine.I also do think you ought to be in tough with your GP on a regular basis to monitor this situation. Good luck and Best wishes.
