Hey everyone, I have been on here before but I didn't succeed in my journey. I recently lost my grandad and it has hit me like a ton of bricks. It has shaken me up and made me realise just how short life is. I'm going to loose this weight and and I'm going to make my grandad proud. I would also love to make some friends on here and get some support too if anyone wants to send me a message feel free happy Sunday everyone. Xxx

Hi, those are great sentiments and your Grandad would love to hear you planning a healthy and happy future! Hopefully this time around you will be better prepared and well armed with knowledge and information picked up from the other successful people on this forum...just take it one day at a time, and put any bad ones behind you and keep on going!
Thank you that's what I'm hoping to do. No more messing about now I'm going to do this for myself but to make him proud too there are a lot of success stories on here so I have lots of inspiration x
Hi missamieerose,
Welcome back to the NHS Weight Loss forum - it's great that you've decided to join us again!
Firstly, I'm very sorry to hear about your grandfather - please accept my condolences on behalf of everyone here at this extremely difficult time
Take a look at the right hand side of your screen (bottom if you're on a mobile device) at the 'pinned posts' area - here is a collation of various useful posts (such as the 'Welcome Newbie' post and challenges that are currently being run on the forum - take part in what ever you want to)
In that 'Pinned Posts' section, there is also a collation of recipe ideas, they will always come in useful too
The Monday Weigh In group is posted weekly, Zest and moreless , who are also our approachable site admins alternate the posting of the thread between them. There is a morning thread (if you weigh in between 06:30 until midday) and an afternoon/evening thread (from midday on Monday until 6pm on the Friday of that week).
The topics section, underneath the 'pinned posts' area will give you all of the posts related to that topic - it's useful if you're looking for something specific!
Finally, all that remains is to wish you a great first week on the forum! Once again, I am sorry for your loss.
Best wishes,
Rob

Thank you honey I can't wait to get stuck in. I have to do this now and I've never been more ready good luck to you too and I will for sure be on here :). Xx
Hi I am so sorry for your loss, similar to you I lost my sister who was younger than me and you realise how fragile life is.
I am sure your grandfather would be proud of you whatever, but why don't you save £1 for every 1lb weight lost ( I am doing this) and when you have reached the weight goal you can do something with the money your grandad would want. Maybe if he was a gardener buy a shrub, tree in his memory, if he had a favourite charity donate it to them or even if he had a favourite pastime, bird watching, trains etc, buy something related to that, each time you see it you will not only remember him but also how your weight lost paid for it too.
Just a little incentive to help you along your way if will power needs a helping hand.
Best wishes Bev
That is a lovey idea Bev and I'm going to do that £ for lb it's a brilliant way to honour him I am so sorry to hear about your sister if you ever need to talk I'm always here xx
Thankyou it was 4 years ago now and 2 oak trees have been planted in her memory as her second name was Turner and there is an oak called the Turner Oak. Any idea what you might be planning to do with your £1 for 1lbs?
I'm thinking a bench see if I can get one put in our local park x
A lovely idea for your family and others to sit and enjoy the park for a bit of solitude.
Better get your jar ready to collect those £1's.
Apart from doing this myself I am also collecting £1 for a 1lb whilst I am doing the winter solstice challenge where I hope to loose 16lbs before 22nd Dec and buy some food and toys for my local dog rescue centre for Christmas. I will also be collecting old towels, blankets etc to take with me too. I can't let those poor doggies down can I?
