I've got 1.5 stone to loose, Ive just cancelled my weight watchers subscription as I found I was always hungry, I did loose 15.5 lbs the first few months, but then last month I only lost 1 lb. Therefore I'm going to try to do it myself I went on the NHS site and it worked out 1400 cals a day. I think that thats a lot ( why am I complaining), thoughts anyone, thanks

I'm assuming that you're going to be following the NHS 12 week plan, but if you haven't decided yet, there's a link to it in our newbie thread, which can be found on the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile)
In the same place, you'll find several fun and motivating challenges and an excellent collection of recipes
We hold a monday group weigh-in, which is friendly, non-judgemental and supportive, which you'd be very welcome to join. If you follow Zest and myself, you'll get a notification when the new threads are posted

Hi, I did weight watchers years ago and was successful, and managed to maintain my weight for years until recently. I went back to weight watchers for a month but had no success and hated the new diet, is changed from when I was on it before, and doesn't really promote healthy eating! I've been on the NHS diet for the last 15 weeks, never been hungry and lost an average of 1lb per week. It's not a fast fix but it does work and the idea is to change eating habits, which I've done and am very happy with. I eat far more healthily now and feel loads better! I personally stick to the lower end of the calorie recommendation, but know others do lose weight having the middle and higher end, the amount of exercise you do makes a difference. Good luck!
I'm going to do the NHS diet, just had porridge it was lovely, wouldn't dream of having that on WW, Ive added up the calories I used to have on WW sometimes it would be 900 cals others over 2000 cals, hate that Ive paid a month in advance , Im still goin to get weighed for a month, , roll on Monday. Good lucks also !
Hey kermit8. Use the BMI tracker, nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to get your daily recommended calories. If you are doing lots of exercise then you need to make sure that your body is getting enough food to burn off those calories. There will be a lower and top figure. I'm sticking somewhere in between.
I wish Id had come here first, couldn't get my head around the difference in calories on WW on day was 900 cals other over 2000 cals, no wonder your body always hungry. I've got another month left with them, had to pay month in advance, so when I loose weight they'll take the credit lol
moreless gave me the great advice of working out what my calories range was and then eating the most I could and still lose weight. This means even on weeks where I don't lose I see it as part of a bigger "changing my habits for life" picture. I'm about 9 weeks in (just been away so haven't followed slavishly) and I'm 4kg lighter and happy. I'd like to lose at least as much again but I'm not hungry so I don't mind slow.
