The Wagain!

I am a serial wagon tipper. Got to give it to me - I'm great at loosing kilos in the first two weeks, then the "it won't hurt" thought comes creeping in & before I know it I've done four days of binging. Then guilt, then waiting for the 'appropriate' day to re-start, usually a small amount heavier than where I began. Must remind myself that it's the gentle, consistent approach that'll lead to results & promote a happier relationship with food. Here we go again...

I had a different tactic too this time, small relatively painless changes leading to small but consistent losses 😊 Good luck!

Hi ForMe,

Wishing you a good week ahead, and Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS Community forum. I really hope you'll find plenty of support and encouragement here, and I'd like to wish you success with your goal to promote a happier relationship with food - please check out our Welcome Newbie thread, which moreless has put together, and also the other posts in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) - and if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in, then the Monday group weigh-in will be going on all day and evening tomorrow - so look out for it. The latest thread is always put in the Events section (below the Pinned posts).

Hope you have a great week.

Lowcal :-)

Think of a pendulum - swing too far in one direction (e.g. 1000 calorie diet) and eventually the pendulum swings right back the other way (a binge).

Find the middle road... around 1400 or 1500 calories to start with, maybe a little more when you are very active such as digging the garden or playing tennis!

Boot out the guilt...doesn't help anyone, and we have to see our healthy eating as a long term re-adjustment, not just a quick fix after which we put it all back on again.

Focus on making your life more interesting rather than on the food you can or can't eat. Learn a new sport, take up dancing, join a swimming club, try sailing a boat...the list is endless, but it will make you happy and divert you from your comfort foods.
