Hi
I am a newbie (aged 50!) and I currently have high blood pressure and I suppose I am hoping this 12 week plan is the start I need to bring this down and start to lose weight at the same time. Any other tips I should be aware of?

Hi DaveyL,
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I'm glad you've decided to join and that you are keen to start the NHS 12 week plan, as I think it's a great plan and should help with your health and fitness goals. I would recommend taking a look in the Pinned posts area (see the right-hand-side of the homepage) and especially having a read of the Welcome Newbie thread, and any other Challenges that take your interest.
Also, if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in, in a large and supportive group of like-minded people, then I'd recommend participating in the Monday group weigh-in sessions - see the Events section (below the Pinned posts I mentioned) and you'll be able to read the latest session, to see if it might be something you fancy joining.
The next session will be on Monday, so do join us if you want to!
Wishing you a great weekend and all the best on your weight loss journey. Hopefully your blood pressure will improve as you get fitter and lose the weight you want to lose.
All the best,
Lowcal
You've already been directed to the Welcome Newbie post which has lots of hints and tips and I am sure you will find it useful.
I just wanted to say that I have seen a super drop in my BP which was quite unstable last year, sometimes too high and sometimes dropping too low and now it is a steady, healthy level, which is such a relief.
Oh, my biggest tips are to keep active and be consistent and you will see results.
It is amazing, just a couple of weeks and you will already see and feel improvements.
Good luck!
Log everything and be honest about what you consume (myfitnesspal is a good and free ap to use to record this). Combine healthy eating with as much exercise as you can safely manage and you will soon be motoring! Good luck!
Thanks everyone, I have started using MyFitnessPal but I won't be too rigid with that it's more for my awareness about food intake etc.
I will put my readings on here next week as you say Seuzan, it's about being honest with myself more than anything.
The starting point on Monday was 15st 2lb and BP was 188/125 !
I am positive the only way to go now for these readings is down so off we go!!!
