and after 8 months, here I am - back where it (should have) started!
I'm 20 pounds heavier, I'm really struggling at uni and I'm so sad that summer is approaching and I'm at a point where all I wear is stretchy pants, loose jumpers and trainers so that no one can 'tell' how much weight I've gained (let's be real, they can totally tell...) and to stop my poor legs from aching!
I'm pretty sad to be writing this, especially as I promised myself I'd be in better shape for my 21st birthday. Instead I insisted on not having photos taken, and the ones that were are just so unflattering it makes me super sad. I guess this is just a bit of a ranty post because I really hoped to be somewhere positive by now, but it would be so great to hear about other people's accomplishments right now!

So, have you identified why you cannot stick to a healthy eating lifestyle? Are there certain times or situations where your resolve weakens?
I found that I had to change my routine etc to stop me doing the same thing over again.
You don't say how much weight you are looking to lose Hudson but you have to start somewhere and start to make changes to your lifestyle that make it easier to eat healthily and to ensure that this is sustainable.
It is not just your appearance either, think of your health too and look at posts on this forum, almost everyone would tell you that their general health has improved when they start to lose weight.
I am old enough to be your father, in fact my daughter is 24 years of age, and I grew up in a world that was not full of junk food and drinks crammed with sugars or marketing people trying to push bogus weight loss products on us.
Get back to basics Hudson and learn how to look after yourself properly, so far as what you consume.
You are worth the time and you will start to feel the benefits Good luck - John
Hello Hudson95! The thing I have learned from people on this forum is that the winners are the people who get back up after falling off the wagon. So you are winning by deciding to do something.... I think it is great that you have re-joined the forum and are determined to make changes. Track your calories, do some exercise and you will soon be holding the reins again. It only takes a few weeks of sticking to the programme (are you doing the nhs 12 week programme?) and you will really start to feel fitter and healthier. Treat this as a lovely project to care for yourself and get your power back. You can do it!!! Good luck and don't give up.
Hello Hudson95! You have loads of things going for you - you're young, so your metabolism has not yet been ruined by yo-yo dieting. You WANT to do this, you've recognized the importance, haven't just stuck your head in the sand and you will do it! You're on this forum, where we will all cheer you on, give you advice, listen to you - we're all in the same boat. And you're a student and probably have some time to fit in exercise during your day. Start planning, get cracking! You're worth it. There's loads of advice in the newbie pinned posts. Don't do everything at once, just pick a couple of things out that you can do and start slowly. Build in some exercise, walking will do for a start - just 20 minutes 3x a week will help.
You say you are really struggling at Uni and I wonder whether this is the source of your problem. I guess you may be comfort eating.
Have you considered exploring your feelings such as self worth and being hard on yourself and so on with a counsellor? This could release you from your negative thoughts and enable you to be more loving to yourself and enable you to begin to loose the weight you would like to loose.
I agree. I hate to hear anyone feeling so down. It is not OK that this stopped you properly enjoying your birthday, and you don't have to continue to cope all alone. Most UK Universities can offer very good quality support to students, including counselling, but you can also think about speaking to your GP.
Look after yourself, and I hope you start feeling more positive soon.
