Half a pound
Please don't feel disheartened, my weight losses vary a lot! 1/4 lb here 1/2 lb there, then 3 all at once! If you follow the plan the weight will come off, trust me! 😊😊😊
Good luck!
Hi! I know this feeling but, after many years of weight watching, I've come tot he conclusion that one's body establishes a normal weight and it can be extremely difficult to break out of it. Once you do though, weight can disappear quite quickly. My suggestion would be to try a few days of a really limited diet - say 1,000 calories a day - to give your body that jolt. (Perhaps this is how the quick detox type diets work - you know, nothing but pineapple and bananas or whatever for a couple of days.)
Have you looked up your BMI to see what your daily calorie intake should be? To lose weight you should be aiming for the lower figure to start with.
Also are you keeping a food diary and weighing everything to make sure your portion sizes are OK?
And count everything that you consume including drinks, sauces that you might use etc.
Most people starting this would also cut out sugar in drinks, fizzy drinks, and foods that are high in sugar or have added sugar.
A half pound for the first week does seem a slow start but if you are following the plan with no cheating then the weight will come off
Thanks. I don't think I have been strict enough with monitoring everything. I have done quite a lot of exercise and I am not sure that the calories used are accurate either.
As other advice on here, weigh EVERYTHING and WRITE it down. Have you looked at the free online MYFITNESSPAL, lots of people on here use it including me, it so motivates you when you can keep an accurate record of what is going IN THE BIN ABOVE YOUR CHIN! Also, don't use the calories you burn in exercise as extra to eat, forget these and they will add to your weight loss. So to recap..weigh, write and exercise, you'll see a big difference next weighing. X
Don't get disheartened, you will probably have a good loss next week if you keep at it.
Hang in there - it's probably taken years for the weight to creep up and might take a while for it the slide back down. It's going in the right direction which is what matters
Hi I know how you feel I only lost 3/4 of a pound too very disappointed x
Hi, I am sure for me it is due to not being strict at not including everything on my calorie count. There have been so many encouraging people that I don't feel disheartened. I just have to try a little harder. Good luck with this week, we can do this
I whinged last week and couldn't shift. 2 lbs and over estimated by 200 cals, which used to work, changed and went 1400 and it changed, 2.5 lb loss this week.
I've started a daily weigh in and used happy scale, so ok you can't put .5 of a lb, or .25 round to highest figure, gives an average loss, which seems kinder and more accurate
you are right. and inside it still feels better being full of carrot and celery rather than cake and toast.
well I have had zero loss!! cant believe it! a week of no wine, no cake etc!!
It is soo deflating, but I am sure that next week you will see the difference. Women have so many influences on their weight, hormones, muscle gain if exercising etc. Keep it going and see the results
It's a start and it's a good one as the plan is working for you. Don't give up, the weight will come off but it's more about showing your body some respect for all it does for you and thinking about your long term health. Keep going one step at a time and you will get there ..... 😀
Sorry you feel disappointed but at least you did lose a bit. Make sure you are definitely eating the right amount of calories for you and that you stick to it and don't go over. Even just 50 calories over a day will make a difference to me. Someone on this forum said to me once when I had only lost a half a pound to image that amount as a block of butter and that really helps to see how much you have lost. Bit by bit it will come off - keep at it and you will get there
Do keep going Lisa and don't give up, losses will begin to add, which will be very motivating if you can just stick with it now. You seem to know where you went wrong and that's crucial because you can fix those things and have a great second week! Go girl! 😊xx
Hi Lisa,
It's not huge but it's not a gain - you will be learning and loosing more over time, slow and steady is the answer. I've been on a calorie counting diet and exercise for almost 3 months and I've lost only 5 kg (11 pds). But I feel amazing now, the losses are slow but they keep coming. This diet and life style change was such a great decision for me - just give it a few more weeks
It can be really disappointing when you see some of the enormous losses some people log. But you might just be a week behind at the scales. I often think I might be. Just keep going. You know where you want to be and how to get there, it is just a question of putting one foot in front of the other.
I lost nothing in my first week, on my second weigh-in I saw I'd lost 2.5 kgs. I did measure myself and had lost inches. I think for some it sort of takes a bit then kicks in. For me, I realized that this is not really a diet as such it's more of a healthier way of life and it should be for life. Meaning watch what I eat, how much and how I cook it etc.,
So, either way I am sticking with it. I am just concerned about the health issues. I don't have that much to lose either but its sticking like glue! I want to be fitter, healthier then the 'prettier body' comes last but still important!
it is indeed a way of life (or a life sentence depending on how you look at it). The trick is to not believe you are always being deprived. All those nice cookery programmes and books. and FOOD everywhere. we have to learn to live along side it all. and not always be looking round the corner at how other people (my husband and skinny teenage girls) can eat EVERYTHING they like and stay perfect!!!
Hi Lisa rich
I have fluctuated , i lost 5lbs two weeks ago then put on one pound last week.during my time I spent around 6weeks putting weight on so any loss has to be a positive. Keep up and the lossess will increase.it's another week so it's a fresh start. Good luck.
Yes you truly must keep going- Iknow how you feel !
Yes you must keep going, I know how you feel.
Our bodies are marvellous machines. We are not all the same with weight loss regimes .It is a lifestyle change if you want to reduce weight and keep it off. Yoyo dieting is no help. Exercise + less calories= weight loss.
I use fresh fruit for a lunch 2/3 days a week. Smaller plates and less chocolate!
I'm end of week three & only half pound lost so I'm with you on the disappointment! My sister swears I've been cheating but I haven't! I'm 56 & everyone is telling me to give up, I'm too old, I'm sticking to 1000 calories a day! Feeling really down, have not been on this site for a while, any advice out there?
Mayb she was up early, I was awake at 5
Hi Prince56 , please don't give up! You're the same age as me and I certainly don't feel too old!
1000 calories per day seems very low! Have you checked your BMI to see the amount of calories you can have to lose weight? If you eat too little your body will go into " starvation mode " and store fat!
Keep posting on the forum you'll get loads of support! Good luck
Yes the calculator says I only need 998! I was stunned, no wonder I was getting so fat, I'm a bus driver so I don't need so many calories by the looks! But it's working so they know what they are doing!
I'm more of a night owl, go to bed too early and well it's unhealthy for me, at other times I need to be awake at 4.15am, to start work at 5.30am, so obviously go to bed earlier!
Then of course cost wakes me, if not up early enough
It took me 4 weeks keep the faith
