Hi: I just signed today and i need some... - Weight Loss Support
Hi
The reasons we overeat are complex, and, unfortunately only you can answer that question 😕 There was a really good BBC programme that looked at this, briefly it defined different triggers, emotions, stress, boredom, etc
For me I had to decide to make a choice - eat whatever it was or not eat it and (hopefully) lose weight. I made myself think about overeating as a negative, and being healthy as a real alternative. I told myself repeatedly that I WAS IN CHARGE . . . I COULD DO THIS . . . The cake/cheese/chocolate simply WASNT WORTH IT.
Good luck Arda, hope you can find your positivity soon 😊
You don't say if you are overweight Arda but we can assume you are looking to lose weight?
Like Anna, said there may be many reasons why you are over eating and this could be your lifestyle and your routine, stress etc. You need to identify why and when you over eat and change things to get yourself into a healthier eating habit.
Logging onto this site is a great start and if you look through other posts and replies I am sure you will draw inspiration from others who have been through the same experience.
Take a look at the nhs 12 week plan and maybe consider joining the Monday group weigh in, keep a food diary and write down everything you eat and when and how you feel.
Only you can decide to take the first steps into changing your lifestyle, as far as eating is concerned. What you will get from this forum is lots and lots of support and good advice.
Good luck
Hi Arda,
I agree with Anna and John, the reasons are many, and probably vary from person to person.
I would like to give you a link to the Welcome Newbie post, which Moreless (a lovely forum member) has put together - as it has quite a few posts within it that are varied and interesting in relation to thing that have helped people within this community forum. You might find something that you relate to - so might be worth a read?

Hi Arda. I have exactly the same problem as you do. I eat & eat &eat, in fact I cannot remember the last time I recognised the feeling of being really hungry. I eat for a number of different reasons, but mainly through boredom, stress & habit. I don't know about you but my cravings for sugary things are very difficult to ignore, though I know that it I do ignore them it isn't going to kill me. I have been over weight almost all my life, I'm 61 now & would love to be able to sort this out once & for all. I'm hoping being part of this community will give me some distraction. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone.
Thank you Suzie54 for your support and everybody else
Hi Arda , I clicked your profile cause it shows that you're only 200 miles away from me, are we from the same country?
Overeating is an emotional thing in my case, I'm on day 13 of the program and learning to go few hours without food. I binged once since then for a reason I mentioned in one of my recent posts, but remember one thing - you are in control. Take a few deep breaths before each meal, eat slowly, fill yourself up with veggies, try meditation, go out, take a shower or do some squats, try focusing on something else than food or if you suffer from depression or anxiety which often leads to overeating, seek for professional help.
As I always say, it's all in your head. Mindset is everything.
As there's no update from you since your first post, let me ask you how are you doing so far? I hope you haven't given up.
Stay strong!
