I stumbled on this today and thought I'd share for those who might be interested but haven't seen it:

dechox.bhf.org.uk

I would be interested in it myself, but I'd need to get the OH on board! He *has* to have a bit ofchocolate after dinner, so we always have some in the house.... Another week to persuade him!

Maybe should explain in case the link doesn't work, but it's a challenge to go the month of March with no chocolate!

My birthday is in March so I am out.

My OHs birthday is in march too, I suggested he have the day off and do the 1st of april to balance out. Alternatively, the BHF suggests you could pay a fine to take the day off (suggested donation £20)?

All that remained of chocolate, or so I thought, went off to work with hubby to be distributed at the hospital one week after Christmas. I found a dark chocolate coated soft honey nougat bar the other night it remains where I found it, in a box, along with its miniature friends until a birthday present is required. Hubby was addicted but hid it, so has not eaten any chocolate for years and I only cheat at high days and holidays.

:)

Oh no, I'm hopeless. I can walk past chocolate in the supermarket no problem, but if it's there I will over-indulge. I would take nuts to work for a snack, then my colleagues started a choccy biccy bin, and now I have 1-2 every day instead of sugar-free nuts. My OH brings chocolate in, and I have half of anything he brings in too. Every few weeks, i have a serious talk where i beg him to stop bringing sugarry junk into the house, but he won't break the habit. He has a very sugarry diet...

Hey why don't you try a fine system. Every time hubby brings sweety things he has to put money in the jar. When the jar is full, YOU treat yourself to something nice. Maybe a new slimming top?

Cooper we sound very similar on this. So many times I have gone to work with all sorts of healthy options in my bag...only to be seduced by biscuits, cake and sweets / choc brought in by others. And once I start....😑.

My OH too loves a chocolate bar and brings them home. He tried hiding them but I am a super sleuth!

But with the daily pledge this has changed. There is chocolate, cakes, biscuits and sweets in the house some still wrapped, some opened but I am ignoring it all. All because I have pledged daily.

I have now told people I work with which is so helpful as you know how some people watch you like a hawk ready to say 'a ha! Caught you!' ?!?!

Argh! So many delicious pictures of yummy chocolate on that website. I won't be taking part as I don't really eat much chocolate, apart from the odd Nakd Bar and as they have only fruit sugars, I consider them OK - in moderation.

Also, don't BHF realise that Easter Sunday is during March this year? Crazypants!

Yeah, that occurred to me, but like I say, they let you have a cheat day for a £20 fine - I think they hope everyone will cheat and they'll get a huge windfall!!!

Easy Peasy me think. A year on and I have given up 98% of my chocolate habit.

I find I just don't really need choc anymore so if you can get out of the habit, it will be fantastic. This challenge is only a month, a lousy four weeks. Not much really. You can do it.

Thanks Cooper27! I hadn't seen this.

I have been completely sugar free for almost 4 weeks. However at some point I wanted to go back to eating a teeny bit of dark choc, with no idea of when I might do this.

This challenge gives me purpose to carry on sugar free for another 4 weeks. I have already pledged to carry on totally alcohol free (now at 6 weeks) until my anniversary in April.

Really grateful for the link, cheers!

Well I'm alcohol free for Lent, and oddly enough I don't find it too hard to ignore chocolate . Except for Ferrero Rocher :-). And I won a box of those recently and there's still some left .

My downfall is nuts and crisps. If they're in front of me I have to take them. :-(

Dont understand why anyone wants to dechoc March when Easter is in it. Good news for me anyways because I dont eat chocolate lol. Besides which isnt dark chocolate now supposed to be good for you?

Flavanoids in chocolate are what's good for you. The quantity in milk chocolate is near nothing, but it's higher in dark chocolate. But not all dark chocolates are equal! Some still have a lot of sugar, and some also have very little flavanoid content. So really, not all dark chocolate is "good" for you.

The main thing is it's stronger, so you eat less, making it not as bad for you...

Sorry, went off on a technical tangent there....

Thanks I knew someone would know why dark chocolate was better for you. Still as I dont eat any chocolate, dechoc March isnt for me.
