Hey Bex, welcome...you're well prepared and good to go! As for the ocd and social anxiety...one step at a time eh? Let's just get this show on the road. ......youve made a brave decision that you are in total control of. It's your life and you're going to make the changes that you want to make...we're here cheer leading you on. What's your plan for today?
Plan of the day..... Meal planning! I very rarely eat from a packet as I worry about chemicals and hormones in food and want my children to have a good understanding of this and using my usual meals and information from seeing dietetic nurse am writing up meals for the week. Oh and a sneaky strength training session! Thank you for your reply x
You've got such a strong sense of what you want to do...good on you girl! And Bex, have you looked at the BMI check on the NHS website....this helped me feel confident to have more calories...instead of a 1400 one size fits all...I have up to 1600 a day. Really helps on the days I feel I need or want more. See Shellie's replied too..this is a brilliant forum....keep posting and let us know how things are going!
Howdy hun, a warm welcome to this forum. You have taken a brave and positive step forward, let's start with that - you can tackle the other things when you feel you are ready for another step. Talking of steps, do you have stairs at home? If you do you can start an exercise regime with them. Use the banister to steady yourself if need be and step up and down the first step - set yourself a rythym and amount, then build on it. You could add extra stairs in to the routine, do side stepping, etc... Google exercises to do in the home, it is surprising what pops up.
The important thing is that you have the desire to get fitter and healthier, you can do it hun, we are all here to support you. 😊
Stairs it is!!! And have found a whole lodda moves I can do indoors too. Thankyou for your advice. I just found out that mowing my lawn can be taken into account. That I can do!!!!
Great stuff you have all the tools ready to get shifting some of that weight. Don't worry too much about not being able to go outside and exercise, getting into healthy habits eating wise will pay dividends if you have discipline and you are tenacious.
As for the exercise side of things, a basic fitness DVD would be perfect to get you in to the swing of things in front of the TV in your living room. I would start with this and see if you can do a 10 / 20 minutes to begin with and build up from there.
As a progression of this if you are really keen to get walking / running have you considered getting yourself a treadmill for use at home? If you have a garage this would be an ideal home for a treadmill. Something to think about maybe in a few weeks time when you are absolutely nailing the diet and exercise at home.
I can empathise with you completely, as I too, have eaten myself indoors. These four walls have become my secret food chamber.
We have both taken the first step to leaving the inner sanctum by joining this forum.
I only started my weight loss plan on Monday, so therefore our journeys will parallel each other.
Exercise-wise I started walking around the house on Monday. Tuesday I did 5mins x 3 following a walking video and I plan to up that by 5 mins every day. I also plan to use a low (sturdy) coffee table I have, to do my version of squats, ie sitting down and standing up 5x3 1st day and increase by 5 every day.
It may not sound like much, but it's surprising the difference it makes, not only physically, but also psychologically.
This is the first day of the rest of your life, so embrace it and celebrate it.
I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind.... I am going to walk the dog to field today. I am going to walk there and let the dog run around and then I'm going to walk home. I may do it at 100mph (although very unlikely!) or may make it a gentle stroll... AND I DID IT!!! I walked to the field, the dog ran around and I walked home. A huge sigh of relief when i came back through the door mind but I did it!
Like yourself I am aiming to do what I can indoors and hopefully wake up tomor and want to walk to the field again?! So pleased to have so many people on the same journey as myself. It sometimes feels a very lonely world behind a window
