Week 4 complete, and I'm in love (with what you might ask)?????????..............

Week 4 done and dusted and another 2lb gone .A day late but got there in the end.

Lowcal tried to join Monday weigh in but struggled to leave reply boo hoo. It was really great to see you are sharing the load, so many people and that is a huge amount of work. Don't worry about small gain I'm sure this will be gone next week.

Last week weighed in at 13 .131/2 and this week weigh in at 13.11, very happy with that.

Have managed to do at least 30 min exercise a day even when I have felt rubbish, which this week has been every da, never mind got pass that.

Cycled 3 times and was very pleased that I managed between 3-5 miles each time. Walked the other days and swim twice this week.

For me this is amazing as I am the QUEEN OF EXCUSES !!!!!!!!!! (not any more)

As it says in the title I have fallen in love, with what or who you might add ????? well it is anew ginormous cycle shop that has just open at my local country park. Now I know at this point you might be thinking is she mad, a blinking cycle shop!!!!!!!!

Rutland Cycles have opened at the weekend and because I wanted to get that elusive gel seat for my uncomfortable derriere ( I have continued even under the sore conditions) I decided to give them a look. OMG that shop is amazing, it's like a 2 storey warehouse, there are more amazing bikes and equipment than you can shake a tail feather at. After wondering around in awe for some time, I know crazy or what !!!! I got chatting to a lovely little lad about gel seats and oh the choices were vast and expensive at times !!!!! I decided on what I wanted, he said he would fit it for me there and then, fabulous as I can just imagine the disaster that would ensue if I did it my self ( I am the woman who when she cannot find a hammer for banging nails in will find a heavy shoe, but hey I always give it a go)

While fitting my new hi tech and amazingly comfortable seat said little lad has convinced me to sign up for a FUN !!!!!! 10 mile race in October in aid of cancer research, couldn't say no as very close to my heart. I then found my self outside the shop thinking what have I done. Better get practicing cannot let anyone or myself down can I ??

As I said before I was always the queen of excuses, but the time has come to step away from that person and embrace and remember the person I once was. After spending the last decade with some serious health issues, not all caused by weight I am trying to regain my inner peace and strength, which I know I have still got even if it is buried quite deep, it is trying to get out into the light, I AM going to get out.

At the end of the day this is done to me and the choices I make and I cannot blame it on anyone else.

So hail to the Cycle shop !!!!!!!!

I will be back ...........

Thanks everyone for such inspirational posts over the last week they have really helped keep me going.

Hi Jo4950, what a lovely post to read this morning and well done on losing 2 lbs. You sound super happy and so you should be and signing up to a 10 mile ride in Oct in support of Caner Research is FANTASTIC !! :-) well done and good luck

As for race I'm committed now, some people might think I should be committed !!!!!!!!!

Having suffered from cancer back in 2001-2003 I'm just trying to give a bit back.

Life is for living after all so let's all go for it !!!!!!!!!

Aww - what a great story ! And that 10m race sounds like something fab to aim for - especially with that new comfy gel seat :-)

As the cycle shop is called Rutland Cycles, do you live in Rutland by any chance ?

Strangely enough it is in Peterborough, I think it has originated from Rutland though so not too far away.

The seat is fab, makes me feel like I am sitting on the sofa, brilliant !!!!!

Ah - my mums family are all from Rutland - wondered whether you ever cycled round Rutland Water - lovely place :-)

Used to hire bikes and cycle round there with the kids when they were younger, and used to use the artificial ski slope there many years ago. It's a fab place, great for a picnic, healthy one of course.lol

Made me think about going over there to have a good walk, lets see how weather is at weekend and give it a go :)

Hi Jo, wow, what a lovely post! Two pounds down and a cycle ride to enjoy in October...the jell seat will work wonders and the ten miles will just melt away...just like the unwanted extra weight....yeah...go you!

Yes it's the best sort of Jelly !!!! ever, I LOVE JELLY !!!!!!!

Looking forward to practicing for the fun race. I know that it is a small amount compared to others on site but so good for me.

My count down to 50 is cracking on.

Congratulations on losing 2.5 pounds this week, that is amazing!!! Sorry that you weren't able to post on the Monday weigh-in thread, but glad to see how you got on here! :-)

You sound so loved up with the new cycle shop - that's great that you're enjoying that so much. Definitely helps to feel some passion for something, and looks like you've found it! Great that you're all kitted up now, and that you've committed to that race later in the year. Amazing! :-)

If you want your weight loss to be included in our Monday weight group stats, then just pop over (if you can) and just quickly add it, and Ruth will include it, as she's holding back for a couple of days incase there are any late weighers. If you don't want to, that's also fine, but it would be good to include your results - 2.5 pounds is amazing!!! :-) You're making great progress.

Once we make the changes to the way we live, doors open to wonderful exciting times.

You'll do great in the 10k cycle ride especially with your sofa of a seat.

My husband has nagging me to get some bikes - it won't be long before I need that sofa seat aswell lol

I cannot believe how really lovely it is. Had a nice ride after work today and felt really comfy. All I need now is to some amazing waterproofs and I will be ok lol ........

Take the plunge and get a bike it really makes you feel free, don't know why but it is a great feeling go for it :)

Thanks, I feel really proud of myself for just getting on with life. Hate wasting life it's to short and time is very precious to me.

Cycling makes me very happy ( I cannot believe it myself), one of my children thinks the alien's have come down and abducted their mum lol you would have thought they would have left a slightly slimmer version wouldn't you !!!!!!

Hey that's how I feel about running. You wouldn't have got me into a running or sports shop before I started (although I used to work in a bike shop in the past, but that's a different story!). The thing here is you're finding a whole new world is opening up to you. You can definitely cycle for 10miles. You have time to build up before October. Plan some routes in advance for 3 miles, then 5, then 8, and practice them. On the day you will get carried along by the crowd and the exhilaration of it all. Lots of luck! And tell us how you progress with your training too :)

Bless you thanks, I'm loving it, I've been out after work today and cycled 3 miles to just RELAX, did I really say that OMG

I have got a cycle route booklet for local country park and going to try to do different route every other night. 3 miles for first week or two then increase it to 5 etc.

My daughter has joked that I could join her on her 100 mile Fen Ride, maybe next year, it does not feel so unobtainable now.

Next purchase is going to be milometer for bike as phone app keeps switching off.

I love a bit of sun but for me just being outside is lovely. I think for bike ride I will probably have to but some waterproofs lol !!!!!

Exercise, it's turning into a mantra. OMG what has happened to me. It just shows that getting ready to turn 50 really does make you go dolally !!!!!!! as my old nanna used to say .
