If it gets tough when you go back to uni don't forget that we are all here urging you on.
What do you think has been the key thing that you have done differently to previous times? I am sure you have lots of advice that others just starting out would love to hear.
My lifestyle at uni is just really hectic though; I'm worried about keeping the exercising/dancing up because of the floorboards in the flat (don't want complaints in-case jumping is loud) and my flatmate thinking im a weirdo lol. Plus I would have to exercise after uni which is around 4 instead of the mornings which I'm sure is the best time (what if i'm tired by then or hungry)..
I guess hearing how "easy" it was for my friend to lose weight is what motivated me this time; I've never had results nor did I keep a log and made myself aware of what I eat either; so all that helps. It's just a time in my life where I put my foot down and decided for change (sucks it wasn't sooner)
I make sure my exercise suits me and is something that I enjoy (DANCING) I can keep it up for an hour or 2 and puts a sweat on so all good!
Milk is really good for rehydration, it also gives you the protein you need after exercise plus it is more filling than water. If you don't like it though and can wait for dinner then just water will be fine if your dinner has protein in it.
19lbs is incredible, it's taken me 12 weeks to lose the same amount! You have really stuck at this, and the more you follow it the more determined you'll be to make sure you carry on. The advice about having a banana when you get in after uni is great, I find a banana really keeps hunger at bay between meals. Have you thought about joining a dance/zumba class somewhere in a slightly different area where you wouldn't know anyone and could be fairly anonymous? There might be a bit of travelling there and back, but it could be a good way to keep exercising despite your wooden floors. Lots of luck
Thank you! Yeah Hopefully as soon as I see results next month, it will just continue to motivate and boost my will power!
Tbh I wanted to keep bananas out my diet since they're high in carbs, but I guess one a day before exercise is alright if it give you an energy boost.. (how long do I wait?)
And nah, humans are humans regardless; I'm fine doing it on my own; I do better that way, thank you x
Bananas are high in lots of other things apart from carbs, especially potassium which helps your muscles recover from exercise. I would wait until it's gone down at least but no particular time necessary just what works for you, maybe get in the habit of picking up a banana on your way home.
I'll keep trying to suggest ways for you to get out. You never know, eventually you may get out there
Hahaw bless you, I can't imagine me doing things in public! Unless all my wobbly bits are non existent
And that's good to know yeah; I'm defo gonna keep my fridge stocked up with fruits n veg from now on! No more frozen pizza after uni ><
I never used to eat breakfast tho, nor dinner at uni as I was too embarrassed to eat so BINGEDD like crazy as soon as I got home; so I guess eating my breakfast and lunch then a banana will keep me going to exercise and have my dinner an hour or 2 later <3
Your body does need carbs to give you energy to exercise so whilst restricting carbs can help weight loss you do need something to keep you going and to stop you binging when your will power is low!
Just remember on any bad days how amazing it feels when you lose weight! It may be tough going back to uni but you sound really determined! A big well done!!
Yup!! Will defo just keep reminding myself why; I should print pics of my ideal body and stick my face on it so I can see it everyday after uni and continue to exercise
If you don't mind me asking, what year are you in at uni? what do you study? I just finished uni and really struggled with my weight the whole way through, but managed to get things under control these past few months. I know how tough it can be, especially if, like me, you are surrounded by lots of skinny people who seem to be able to eat and drink whatever they like and do no exercise! If you are ever struggling and need to talk to someone who knows what it feels like then do get in touch
Yeah I've always struggled; moving away from home was a massive deal for me because it meant going out more than usual (eg, to shop and socialise) so my depression only got worse; I end up skipping most days and locking myself in my flat for weeks.
I've always been upset with my weight but for some reason was never really determined to lose weight, just binge, binge, binge. But the fact that it's taking such a massive toll now and affecting something as important as uni has defo motivated more so this time round; I need to think about my future too..
But yeah, always been surrounded by skinny folk, all my siblings are thin yet eat more than me ¬_¬ but yeah, really determined to lose the weight by the end of my second year so I can do well in the third and look great for graduation haha! I really hate the idea of photos and standing infront of a crowd, especially as I am now, so I REALLY NEED TO FEEL COMFORTABLE otherwise I will flop so hard infront of people haha...
Hi Hannah - you've got an exercise you like and thats great! I found I lost more weight if I got my nutrition round exercise right not just a very low calorie intake. So right it better than just low if you get what I mean.
What other opportunities have you got for exercise through the day? Walking is great. I always park as far from the supermarket as I can so I always have longer to walk - its only a few extra meters but when I do it every time it adds up. I bet you can find lots of little ways of tweaking your day for lots of extra bits of exercise.
Yeah!! I've always loved dancing, so I can just keep going regardless of the sweat I break :3 I tried to do insanity and T-25 but I get bored n overwork myself within 5 mins and give up..Hopefully I can try the insanity mission once I'm fitter n my stronger
Tbh, I just stick to the hour n half of dancing a day; is that bad? Should I be doing more in a day? I mean when I go to uni; it'll be the walk back to my flat then the exercise? I sometimes just dance to my destination at home lol or exaggerate my walks instead of waddling too.
My MFP went mental, started recording exercise and calories on days all over the place so I had to delete and reinstall
But congrats on the weight thats awesome!
And promise me you will make planning and organisation of your weekly food a priority. Its the best...if not the only! way to maintain this weight loss.
Oh right, you can add me again; I think it's saved in our inbox? That really sucks though, did you lose all the history?? I hope that isn't a thing that happens to everyone..
Thank you thoughhhhhhhhhh :3 and yep!! (just commented below to sandy how I intend to keep it during uni, i will have to be very strict on myself for first week or two, just until i get used to it and figure out what works with the new lifestyle to this regime)
Woah, 19lbs in 16 days...I want what you're having! My first day here today, I hope to have such brilliant results as you Hannah. You go girl! That is super successful. You're my inspiration.
I've just been sticking to plently of salad with some protein thrown in there; and lots of water or the pukka detox tea! I't yummy if you like aniseed MMMMM (sambuca......)
You can read through my posts if you're interested in how my progress has been going; it's not thoroughly detailed but if you do want to know anything from me; just inbox me!!
I also do ALOT of zumba or just dance from youtube; atleast an hour/hour n half a day xxxxx
Oh you sound determined. Nothing like success to make you want to continue. Must try the pukka detox tea because I do like aniseed. Do you just buy it at the grocery store or is from a pharmacy?
Well asda, tesco, holland and barratts, sainsburys ect.. do a wide range of pukka tea, they're in the range 3£ for 20 tea bags.
Boots had an offer last week though and reduced them to £1.85 so I bought loads; the offers finished though
What I do reccommend though, is keeping an eye out for sales at holland and barratts, they usually have buy one and get one for a penny sale, cause you can then get 2 boxes for 3£!!
Yeah I'm hoping to set a regime of making time for breakfast after doing my makeup and heading out; making sure i actually eat some lunch at uni (Ill do prepacked salads with some quorn products or tuna) and taking the advice i got on here which is eating a banana for energy and doing my hour's workout and having dinner half hour/hour afterwards and then hopefully have the energy to focus on doing some project work!!
I work on Saturdays; so I'll use that as my day off and go to the pub with my friends for drinks and a chill but I'm gonna cut out the wine and stick to vodka.
