How do I help my wonderful (fit, healthy and slim) husband from being a feeder?..... you know what I mean? Cooking fabulous meals at 9pm - a bit of a hobby of his, asking if I want a glass of wine..... answer has always been yes until the 15 August.

Explain you love his food (a bit too much). Go out and buy a small plate and tell him you want some but not in the usual quantities, get him to understand you need less than him ( my husband had difficulty in not dishing out the same for me as for him) offer to make a side salad to go along side his creation and fill up on that.
Drink more water. Drink water all day and early evening so you are not thirsty.
Again get a small wine glass and plan in a small glass at weekends only.
9pm seems late though. Have you already eaten since lunch? You need to make sure that you plan your intake through the day to allow for a little of what he cooks for you.
Thank you, will have the discussion and see how it goes. We have 'lost' our children to univerity and my hero is still cooking for four! I have always felt the responsibility of eating all so no waste...ha, no waist!
You can still eat the same amount as you used to but now in two sittings rather than one. Ask to put some in a tupperware for the next day's lunch, and only have a small portion for your dinner with side salad filling half your plate. Put salad on the plate first so there is less space to put the more calorific element on. Maybe he can get into a habit of cooking these quantities in a way where leftovers can be used for dinner for both of you another night too. So his cooking for four is now had by two people in two sittings? Also, buy smaller wine glasses. He can have the same size glass as you and come back for seconds, but you'll just have one. Or if it's white wine how about making it a spritzer?
Have pulled the small wine glasses from the back of the cupboard. It's perhaps as difficult for him to cook in small portions as it is for me to throw food away. Will have to buy some freezer boxes too. If I put it away before I'm tempted.....Thank you for your kind ideas.
Communication is always the key. Talk to him and explain how important to you this and that you need his help to succeed. If he feels part of the plan I'm he will sure be there 100% for you. It sounds like he loves to cook and is good at it, he could start researching different recipes and ways of cooking that will help you and make you healthy.
Talk to him about smaller portions and saving some for the next day.
I'm sure having your husband helping you will make all the difference.
Oh to have someone cooking for me, Lovely !!!!!!!
I suppose I was starting to blame him for my short comings! Not a good idea. But we're both going to telco now and have a recipe from an old SW book a friend has lent me. Thank you for your kind advice. Will let you know how it goes!
