Hi Barbara..I'm in the same boat! I've done Slimming World, Weight Watcher et al and still weigh nearly 18 stone! I beginning to think maybe the simple and natural way of losing weight is by eating less and moving more. Lets be buddies !! :) Elaine x

Hi Barbara, Francesca and Elaine, I have just joined and I need to lose about 50lbs too. It would be good to be buddies with others who have more than just a few lbs to lose so mind if I join you? I have previously had success with Slimming World, but going to give calorie counting a go this time.

HI! I have just joined, I have gained weight after the birth of my son and am at that point where all I can think about it how much weight I've put on! I need to change and I know that I can't do it alone. Can I join your group? I would love to share weight totals, goals and tips etc! HELP!!!

Hi, I have 50lbs to lose, but I'm going to do it in stages, so want to lose a stone at 2lbs a week. I'm good at going out to do the exercise part, but food is a real struggle. I see all as treats and see multi packs as one item!

Hi Barbara I'd be willing to help you along. I am a 3rd year sport & exercise science student hoping to specialise in cardiac rehab/physiology and obesity. So if you have questions just let me know there are a tonne of good resources online, but some are bad if sustained. But for your short term goals any will do. I do need to lose about 3/4 of a stone myself for the summer (hey we all need a little support right :) jus because I do sports shouldn't mean I don't love my food ).

Would be good to join your group so we can all aim to improve our health.

Hi all,

What is everyone's plan to lose weight? Any particular favourite dieting plans?

I'm new to the forum and have about 3 stones to lose - maybe a little more. Ironically, I'm a qualified weight consultant so shouldn't have any excuse but I put a lot of weight on when I gave up smoking earlier this year so need to get rid of it again and the support here would be welcome. I do well on a low carb plan because I have had pre-diabetes and am vulnerable to getting in again if I'm not careful. I got rid of it last time with healthy eating and exercise. Happy to join your group. Best wishes.

Don't drop your carbs low as that is just a bandage and your dropping water weight from loss of glucose not actual fat metabolism. Watch your calorie intake eat 300-500 less than recommended and exercise. Even if you have diabetes you can reverse the effects of diabetes..(obv not type 1) by regular exercise. Not only will your muscles use more glucose but you will have more glut 4 transporters that takes glucose out of the blood into the muscle this reducing blood glucose levels. If you cut out all your carbs you will have no oxaloacetate being recycled to keep your krebs cycle turning....(within this cycle is where fat metabolism takes place) not to mention sod all energy to even move or do exercise. Good luck :)

Don't drink your calories, avoid sauces high in fat drink a glass of water 30mins before and after food to increase feeling of fullness. Load your plates up with vegetables not chips or too much meat. Increase the amount u move....I.e. Take one plate out of dishwasher at a time to increase energy expenditure. Find a group of similar fitness people in ur area and go for walks/runs/bootcamp get out and enjoy summer :) if you do go for takeaways makes sure u eat things that don't have sauces/butter thrown in by the gallon. Good luck with dropping 3 stone. It can take a week to drop 1-2lbs (3500calorie deficit) so make sure it's your lifestyles your changing and not some fad diet. To drop 3 stone your looking at many months not 2 weeks and I think it's important to understand that when you set your goals. To drop 1lb of fat or even 2 in a week is a fantastic achievement.
