Write everything down for a week to see your eating patterns and see where you could cut back.

Hi, I've not been on for a while but last year I lost over two stone using the NHS 12 week weight loss plan.

Basically, I counted the calories up to my maximum daily allowance (in my case 1900) and then stopped eating for the day. I used a smartphone app to count).

I only had a couple of really hungry evenings before I learned to spread my intake during the day instead of great big portions when I felt hungry.

Unfortunately I've regained a lot of that weight through not sticking to that way of eating - I can confirm it is easy to stick to if you want to.

I had a couple of family bereavements and a time at work where redundancy was being talked about which I (stupidly) allowed to cloud my judgement where food was concerned.

Excuses I know but we are where we are and at least I know it can (and will) be done again.

Good luck and enjoy the feeling of doing something good for your body.

Bikerjohn I'm sorry to hear of ur bereavement , and redundancy these things sound small to ppl who Havnt been through it , I'm pleased to hear u lost weight on the 12week plan , I'm hoping to lose some weight with the plan and I pray it works , thx for the boost up, good luck to u too

I lost weight and have maintained weight ever since can't do small portions at all tried many many times always failed. Even low I eat healthy I can't do small portions love food too much only thing that works for me is to incress exercise and exercise more. It does work as small portions is un possible for me to do I have tried can't do it in anyway. Some people can't loss weight or maintain weight and some can. Not every one can eat small portions I can't do it always been big eater love my food if it wasn't for plenty of exercise 6 days a week with one day off to rest I would be big no question about it. Thing Is I make no excuses to skip exercise or not do any I do it and just get on with it making time and fitting it in no matter what and being busy is just an excuse. People have to exercise before or after work for an hour but thing is they do it Its about good old fashioned exercise mixed with healthy eating and keeping it up even after a weight loss and writing shopping lists and sticking to them. Not buying junk and not skipping breakfast and not eating after 8pm is things that work in maintaining weight. Cal counting and points things like weight watchers I don't agree on and you don't need a gym just to loss weight. I have never been to a gym in my life and I am only a size 8 . Lost weight to that size without ever setting foot in a gym and never cal counting or cut out anything other than junk and have kept weight off. Not many keep weight off after a diet.

I can eat my body weight in snacks or so it seems, so I eat plenty of protein, ( my 100g guideline) raw carrots, and seeds, about 1 teasp at a time!! Protein seems to be the key to every meal, well for me it is , and it helps, I can just nbible through cravings, although I do try to distract myself with hot drinks, clear instead.

Ask yourself is it portion sizes, eating out that distracts you, I find often large starters in places are enough for me. Ask yourself what is it that is so tough? Then find a plan of action to sort it out.

Hi Diana my problem is the other way round I'm overweight but I don't eat I don't have cravings and my portions are very small , I eat very healthy , and as I don't approve of takeaways or food cooked elsewhere I always cook fresh at home for my kids , my weight has come from baby fat which I never lost and mostly because of of taking steroids because I have a scarred dysfunction kidney and I have a tumour in the other kidney , this is where the weight is coming it's so hard to lose it though , I go zumba classes and I got a exercise bike at home any other ideas anyone has plz xx

Sorry to hear of your weight issues, the why and how it came to be, blood type diet may help, lots of help and forums, I use it, never drink carbonated drinks or eat cornflour, both just bloat me! Blood type works very well, although is quite a lifestyle change, you may find that certain foods affect you very badly. I wish you every success with things, and do hope this helps. x
